I found this restaurant via Yelp while visiting in Houston and I'm so happy I did! It turns out this place is as authentic as it gets as the owners are offspring of an original restaurant in my hometown of Monterrey Mexico!! I'm talking about a restaurant that my parents used to visit in THEIR YOUTH. I cannot thank Yelp enough for existing!! I came in on a Sunday and called in because Yelp displays it closed at 2pm but it's actually open until 7pm now. As soon as we walked in, I got that familiar feeling. It's a small sit down place, probably not adequate for large groups as they have 4 tables for 4 people each. The menus are very simple. Tacos al Vapor would be my personal recommendation to you my lovely reader. I ordered the Deshebrada which is a tender pulled skirt steak set in a red (not spicy) sauce. I also ordered potato tacos al vapor and woooooooohoooo golden. Keep in mind that these are tiny! Also don't expect a full filling. These are fair but the filling in these type of tacos are usually smaller than what you'll see in your basic taco (specially tex mex). Since I was on a nostalgia trip I also ordered a enchilada and it was perfect queso fresco filled. We got a special chance to speak to the owners and found out that they import a lot items (we could tell THATS why it tastes like home!) without upcharging for it because they have a traditional business mentality. They strive to preserve the original taste, texture, quality and traditions. We took 15 to go and will be traveling back home to Fort Worth with them to share them with with family and friends- I hope I don't eat before getting home!

This place is sooo good!!! Good find!! Really good food!! We ordered breakfast tacos, Menudo, tacos al vapor and they're were all delicious!! We look forward coming again. The red salsas are excellent. The tortillas taste like if they're imported from Mexico. They also serve Community Coffee.

This rating is strictly for the tacos al vapor, which is what this place is known for. We ordered 6 tacos al vapor-desebrada it was delish! They are traditional small corn tortilla tacos that fit in the palm of your hand. Expect plenty of "grasita" since that is what's used to cook them. The flavor is authentic Mexico! They came with cabbage and tomatoes for a nice crunch factor and an array of salsas. Fave salsa was the red (chile piquin I think). The bistek tacos were lackluster, so we fueled up on more al vapor for the road. The location is tricky...its a 3bldg shopping center they are located at the first building next to the Income tax spot. Also they have the Coca-Cola medio litro to wash down the tacos.

When we got there, there was a big group that overwhelmed the staff. Took a little while to get our food but once it arrived, the wait was worth it. If you want really good tacos Monterrey style, this is the place to go. The staff was very apologetic and the prices are very reasonable.

We were there on a Sunday to order tacos and it took them approximately 30 minutes to bring us the order. Looks like they're short staffed because service wasn't that great. They are located inside of a bar which in my opinion is not family-friendly. Food was really good. Estuvimos ahí un domingo para ordenar unos tacos al vapor y se tardaron aproximadamente 30 minutos para que trajeran la orden. Parece que no tienen suficiente persona porque el servicio no está tan bien. Están localizados adentro de un bar, que mi opinión no es un ambiente familiar. La comida estuvo muy buena.

Talk about great service! Came at 9:30! They still served us even though they closed at 10pm! The manager (I assume) was sitting at a table near the door, when leaving he asked if everything was okay? I love that! I'm all about good customer service! And this spot is perfect for it! Cashier lady was nice. Also Walking to the bathroom I got a beautiful smile from another female worker there ;D lol. Food was bomb too!

Ok, legit food. Why ok? Location isn't great, but it is right off the airport. Only breakfast menu is available in the morning, which isn't the norm in Mexican restaurants. There was no regular sugar at the table, asked for it and got an almost empty container. Only lemonade was available, no other agua fresca. Maybe they should schedule people earlier to prep better. They missed on a better score because of these little details, but food was good and cheap. Beats Fast Food.
