Hands down my favorite taco place for over a decade or longer lol. If you need a late night spot they are open until after 2am I believe. I always get the fajita taco with queso (Yes like a quesadilla), the charro beans and the red salsa. They have the best meat, so not sure who their supplier is but regardless what time you go it's always fresh. I don't know who makes the Charro beans but they're absolutely my favorite in comparison to my mother-in-law. I know it looks funny in the container that they come in, but once you taste them that does not matter. You automatically get onions, cilantro and red or green salsa with your tacos. Don't be intimidated by the location as it can be a sketchy neighborhood and how long the line is. Last time they actually had a cop helping direct traffic and parking which was very helpful. That's how popular this place is. The line is long, but it moves pretty quickly and it's definitely worth it.

THEY'RE EXACTLY WHO THEY THINK THEY ARE. Im from Chicago... so I KNOW a great taco when I have one. I got 3 steak tacos and they were delicious. But I knew it was gonna be good when I saw the sign that says "No Lettuce Tomato or Cheese." I got Steak Tacos and it was cooked perfect and had that carne asada flavour. The service was as quick as it could be. The guys are working hard back there! A longggg line formed when I came so it was perfect timing for me. 3 tacos for 9 dollars!! A steal. And they were a decent size too. If they had crema I wouldve gave them a full 5 stars.

Decided to come here last minute and didn't know they didn't have flour tortillas. If I had known ahead of time, I probably wouldn't have come. But since I was already here, I decided to give their corn tortillas a try. And I have to say, they weren't bad. Easily the best I've had. They were soft, and not brittle or rubbery. I definitely could eat it easily, but I still think flour is so much better. I think flour tortillas add a lot of flavor to tacos, whereas corn tastes more bland to me. But to each his own. Something else to note, the area is kinda sketchy. I definitely wouldn't want to come here alone, especially at night. And idk if it's a coincidence, but when I went with my bf, the line consisted of almost all men. I think there were actually a lot of women who stayed in their cars, while the men they were with stood in line. I'd probably do that too, but this was my first time here and I wanted to get the whole experience. TROMPO: Good, moist, and flavorful! Had some fatty bits. FAJITA: Great flavor, moist, and a little chewy. BARBACOA: This was dry throughout and a noticeably smaller portion than all the others. LENGUA: At first, I thought it was good. It was moist and in thick slices. But when I had some leftovers a few hours later, it wasn't very flavorful. Idk what happened, but flavor doesn't disappear that fast lol it might just be better fresh, I guess. For the QUESADILLAS, I didn't really notice the cheese, like, at all. People raved about how the quesadillas were so much better than the tacos, but I didn't get that. To be fair, I didn't eat any of the food until I got home 25 mins later. But, regardless, the cheese was really mild. So if you don't eat it right away, it's probably best to heat it up and get that cheese pull if you can. Btw, they don't give enough limes. Only 1 slice per foil packet. Not enough chopped onions either. Make sure to get extra!

Wasn't happy that I waited in line to realize they didn't even offer chicken as an option. The line did move fast though. I don't eat red meat but chicken tacos are my go-to. So just disappointed in that

As often as I've visited, I've missed leaving a review. But here it is now. Hands down my favorite taco truck at any time of day, but usually stop in after a night out when in the area. The parking is limited but there is a parking lot across the street where patrol is on duty every time I've visited. Simple, no fuss set up: cash only food truck, get cash ahead of time. Sometimes you walk up the line, other nights & especially weekends, there's a line wrapped around the corner. When you walk up, there's a menu on the truck with their offerings, there's quite a lot, but I am a simple man and stick to the fajita tacos on corn. The hickory smoked flavor is in every bite and that's what I really love about these tacos. You can eat the tacos without adding anything to them, they're always bursting with flavor and they put plenty of meat in the taco. I do like some garnish which they give you on the side consisting of cilantro, onion and lime and choice of green or red sauce. THAT IS ALL A TACO NEEDS! They tend to move pretty quick, but seems like forever especially when you're hungry and the smell is lingering in the air. I've gotten the agua de limon - pretty simple limeade, sweet and gets the job done. I've taken friends here and they've enjoyed it and hope you do too.

I had a good experience at el taconazo. Prices were really great & the flavor of the meat was great too. I went to el taconazo on a Thursday after work. It was really busy! Even for a Thursday night. The line moves fast tho. Prices were really cheap. It is cash only - so remember to bring some. I got three fajita tacos + the hibiscus lemonade. The flavor of everything was really great. The hibiscus lemonade was really good and earthy. I thought the meat had an excellent Smokey texture and was seasoned very well. The garnishes were fresh (although my lime didn't have mud juice)... It would be nice if they had places to sit. I also wish the meat was a bit more tender. But I had a good experience overall

When it comes to barbacoa, there is no taco truck I visit more often than El Taconazo. Despite the dime-a-dozen carts, food trucks, and streetside taquerias that are scattered throughout the city, very few do it as well as they do. They have become my gold standard for late night eats in Houston and feature some of the most tender taco meats in the Northside. After sunset, this place becomes destination for locals from all over the city. During their peak hours the lines can be long and the surrounding area is littered with cars just trying to make street parking work. During their busiest nights, they will have an armed parking guard who is either directing traffic or monitoring the area. The area gets somewhat shady at night, but that only adds to the charm for me. There is no seating. Most everyone is either getting out or eating it directly on the hood / trunks of their car. While the guys in the truck speak a decent amount of English, español is definitely the way to go. It's cash only and it's better to assume there is a line than not. I tend to park on the autoshop side while the majority will aim for the lot across the street. It's a tight squeeze with no less than a dozen potholes, so drive slow. The truck usually has no less than a dozen folks working all at the same time. While it may appear to be two separate trucks, the other one is really more o a prep kitchen and potentially where they prep the delicious meats throughout the night. They only have four meats: barbacoa, lengua, fajita, and trompo. All are quite good, but the Veracruz roots are definitely coming in handy. The barbacoa is tender, fatty, and full of flavor. I am usually dismissive of fajita meat, but their version is quite good. I usually purchase by the plato especial ($18), which comes with one's meat of choice covered by a nice helping of cheese. It's loaded with 7-8 tortillas most of the time and it's perfect for the amount of food. This is an experience for almost everyone. I appreciate that prices have been consistent, the service is quick (food takes almost no time), and the flavors are excellent. They're open till midnight on the weekdays and until 2:30am on the weekends. Have some cash as well as an appetite, and enjoy some of the best tacos in Houston.
