I recently stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Houston Bush Intercontinental Airport, and while the hotel itself is a good value, the breakfast experience was incredibly frustrating. The Good: The property is a little older but well-maintained. Everything in my room worked fine, and the front desk staff was gracious and welcoming. Even the housekeepers said hello in the hallways, which was a nice touch. Overall, for the price, it's a good stay--if you skip breakfast. The Bad: Breakfast Service Is Self-Serve At 8 a.m. on a Tuesday, I walked in ready for a good breakfast and a good start to the day. The restaurant was practically empty, yet everything about the service was restrictive and unaccommodating. The coffee was leftover from the night before--no fresh brew. I had an included breakfast, so I asked the waitress about making a small change to the meal and swapping one item (a pancake), something that has never been an issue at other Hilton Garden Inns. She flat-out refused, saying you only get one plate and no substitutions. I left wondering--why is this such a big deal? Just 20 minutes away, at another Hilton Garden Inn, they were happy to accommodate a simple request. And at most Hilton Garden Inns, service is attentive, tables are clean, coffee is served fresh, and guests feel welcome. But every once in a while, I run into a location where someone wants to do the absolute bare minimum--they don't want to wipe tables, they don't want to provide condiments, they don't want to do anything except drop a plate on the table and still expect a tip. That was exactly the case here. There were no silverware, no condiments, and no ketchup available. Guests have to get their own water, juice, and coffee. I had to take ketchup from another table just to have some. This was not a restaurant experience--it was self-serve. To make matters worse, when the waitress realized I was frustrated, she suddenly offered to get me a pancake. But by then, I was done. I went from walking in happy and ready for breakfast to being frustrated and just wanting to leave. Final Verdict: This hotel is a good stay if you're just looking for a room. But if you're expecting the kind of breakfast experience that Hilton Garden Inn is known for, prepare to be disappointed. The restaurant operates as if it's self-serve, and the staff does the absolute minimum. Alternative Recommendation: Skip the hotel breakfast and walk across the parking lot to Hot Biscuits. It's cheaper, the service is 20 times better, and they actually care about taking care of guests. If this hotel improved its breakfast service to meet Hilton Garden Inn's usual standards, it would be a great value. Until then, come for the stay, but eat elsewhere.

Huge shout out to Vincent at the front desk! Usually people are lazy at this time (1:30am) came from LA had to get a room for my stay. Vincent came to the rescue. Rooms are nice view is nice gave me water for my stay! Huge shout out to Vincent thank you brother! If yall understand how it's like trying to book a hotel late at night is a headache!

Staff was friendly. Airport shuttle is nice and saves $45 from airport. Otherwise- not impressed. More empty bottles in the shower dispenser or complimentary tooth brush if your stranded due rebooked flight like I was. Hilton brand losing its luster in my book lately.

We received a voucher from United Airlines. We also received food vouchers to use at the "restaurant". I ordered $72.50 worth of food which with taxes comes out to $78 more or less. I was charged $99 because it turned out the staff decided to tip themselves $20.50. On top of this, I had already tipped them (the hostess and cook) in cash since they were helping all of these people from the airport who ordered late at the hotel. To make matters worse, we get to our room and there's no running hot water. Called the lobby about this and they said not to worry it would be up in 20 minutes. I ended up taking a cold shower and there wasn't even enough hair conditioner. The hot water never ended up working because my boyfriend took a shower after me and it never came. Yeah we got this room for free essentially, but if I had the option I would have wished for my flight to not have been delayed and to be sleeping in my own bed with a nice hot shower. It's not like the hotels are getting scammed. The airline has a contract agreement to pay for these situations. How we got here shouldn't affect the service. So highly disappointing. Don't use your vouchers here for the food as they will tip themselves and not even give you a receipt to see the itemized amount. If this is how people in Houston Texas operate, I NEVER want to come back. Two stars, because one is for the man at the front who checked 20 plus people in at a time by himself, and one for the chef who cooked for just as many people within the last 15 minutes of the restaurant closing.

Booked a room for May 18 when Houston had experienced tornadoes and my home was without power. Upon booking with a live agent, I was not told that the hotel did not have power or water. I got my family out of bed at 11 PM showed up at hotel close to midnight, and was notified of no power/water. The hotel was very busy and I asked the front desk agent if I could cancel via my app and he said yes. And then noticed my card was still charged the full $350 and when I called to inquire just two days later front desk said the charge would be reversed but that I should have canceled at the front desk. It's been three additional weeks and I have now been repeatedly denied a refund. The general manager, Sasha has not returned my call in over a week. When I call Hilton corporate I just get routed back to the hotel. I have filed two complaints with Hilton corporate and received zero response. As a Hilton honors member I am extremely disappointed with the terrible customer service AND taking advantage of a customer!

Great hotel with nice clean rooms, comfortable beds, and it is quiet. They have a bar and dining area. I enjoyed a Bloody Mary. The staff is very friendly and professional. It is located near the airport as well as the Hot Biscuit which is next door and is a great place to eat. There is also a strip center just down the road that offers several varieties of food as well.

Stayed here when our flight had to do an emergency landing and got us stranded in the wrong state as it was one of the 3 complimentary options provided by United near the IAH Airport. This Hilton is 3 miles away and offers a free shuttle to the airport every 1/2 hour. Lobby looks nice. Front desk clerk was super friendly; she was struggling to find a vacant room although I had accepted United's reservation offer several hours prior. When I asked her to please figure something out as I only could get 3,5 hours of sleep max before heading back to the airport, she said it was an issue due to many reservations in the system that had not cleared up and she manually fixed the issue and got me a room. Hotel room was sufficient for a quick shower and nap. The toilet kept running very loud for a long time. Would I stay here if I was in town by choice? No. Did it serve its purpose for a quick shower & nap near the airport wen stranded in Houston? Yes, indeed. Front desk clerk was still working when I was leaving and I appreciated her sincerity in checking on me to make sure I had gotten some rest with a smile.

Airline put us here as an option, as we missed our connecting flight due to a major mechanical delay on our first flight. I had Hilton as an option due to my airline status, as the other options were by far worse. Everyone at the front desk was great. Room is clean and quiet. We recently came back from a vacation that was 4K a night and had issues (lights flickering, flooding, no ac, doors not locking) every day within our 7 day stay. HGI is a "cheap" option with a free shuttle. If I was looking for a place close to an airport, I would stay here again. It seems like all of the other negative reviews expect to have a 5-star hotel atmosphere (when some are here for free). This is a typical airport hotel. If you are looking for concierge, status recognition, or any other sort of entitlement I suggest staying at a property downtown and paying triple the price. If you are looking for a clean hotel close to the airport with friendly staff and a free shuttle, stay here.

I need to give this hotel a 3 start review. The rooms are nice and very comfortable. My issue with this place is the restaurant. Unfortunately there are no other restaurants nearby and this is the easy only choice, unless you want to drive elsewhere. The food here isn't great. I ordered wings and they were cold. On top of that, they put cold Louisiana sauce out of a bottle on top. They were bad! The next day I ordered breakfast and the potatoes were cold. The server said something about some table not keeping temperature. The following day I had breakfast again and the sausage links were also cold and dry. There is a dinner across the street that's a little better than the restaurant here and a lot cheaper! If you want coffee you need to get up and get it yourself, the server won't bring it to you. Front service is great.
