This venue is very questionable! I am a traveling makeup artist and I was working the event on Oct. 1,2022. My truck was burglarized and over 4k in equipment was stolen. They told me I could receive the footage from their cameras if I filed a police report. Then when I did, they told one officer that they don't have cameras on the side of the hall, only facing the front. But the officer in charge of my case noticed 2 cameras, one in the back of the hall and one right in front of where my truck was parked. So he then went to see the camera footage himself. The officer told me that it would take a while to see the whole footage, so he asked if they could get a copy of the cameras. (The officer told me he was able to see my truck in the footage) Lesly (the manager) tells the officers that her tech guy wouldn't be available till Monday or Tuesday to retrieve the footage. I waited till Thursday to follow up to give them more time. And Lesly tells me her tech guy is now out of town and won't be in all week. She tells me to call her back Sunday 10/9/22. Giving them more time, I called Monday 10/10/22, no answer. I left a voicemail and sent her a message. She quickly responded that the tech guy hasn't been able to come in and she would get back to me as soon as she could. I asked her if there was a certain day that she could tell me in order to have the constable and I be at the Hall to retrieve the footage. She no longer replied back. Here we are now 11 days later and nothing has been done. From the very beginning they lied about not having cameras, to now they don't know when the tech guy will be in. This makes me wonder, what are they trying to hide? So please be careful if you're thinking of booking this place for your event. As a small business owner, I wouldn't wish this on anyone! And I'm not one to write bad reviews on any business, but something about this is not right.

I had my 60th Birthday Party at this venue. We had planned for 150 guests. For the most part, Alexandra was great to work with. Everything she said she'd do was done. She was there the entire evening but never once made my guests feel unwelcome (I have had events at other locations and guests felt very unwelcome). The décor was great, we had a bartender and security as part of the package deal. The biggest disappointment was the DJ - Art. I swear the person I spoke with over the phone and the person that showed up the night of the event had to be two different people. He started out by not contacting me until four days before the event. And this was only after I called to find out if he had been scheduled. When we talked over the phone, I gave him a list of artists and songs that I wanted played. He assured me that none of my request was an issue. Fast forward to the day of the party. He showed up looking like he wasn't working. T-Shirt, jeans and tennis shoes (and not fancy ones either); totally unprofessional in my opinion. The music he played SUCKED. He didn't have 90% of my request. He was clueless about the lack of people on the dance floor. He repeatedly did not play requested songs from the guests, while saying to them he had the songs he just had to find them. My advice to anyone considering having an event at this venue, go right ahead, you can't go wrong with the facility, even the bartender and security were fine. The DJ, well I wouldn't rely on Houston Ballroom to provide. Even though I was told that their DJs had a better sound system because they could hook up to the speakers in the ballroom, that wasn't the case either (couldn't make out some of the songs because sound system was poor). Sad to have a joyous celebration ruined by the music.... Thanks Art

I recently had my wedding here at Houston Ballrooms. Up until about 2 months from the wedding, we assumed everything was going ok. We were a bit concerned that we had not heard back about food tasting, cake tasting, decorations, meeting with the DJ, etc. as Houston Ballrooms provides everything in their package besides the photographers. It was not until we called them that they gave us a date to come and do the food and cake tasting; there's no telling when they would have realized we had not done that, and as teachers it would have been hard for us to do anything at the last minute. The food was edible (chicken alfredo) and the cake was good, but the icing was bland. They don't offer a different type of icing than the one they had. SO... three days before the wedding we finally hear from the DJ. This is after I had been calling for a week asking for the DJ to get in contact with us. My fiance and I had all of the music we wanted played scripted out (idiot proof) for the DJ. He calls and asks that I email him the list so I did. I asked if he wanted to meet us at the venue (since we were there) and he said he would just meet with us before the wedding (like we didn't have other concerns that day). The day of the wedding everything was going smoothly up until about an hour before the ceremony was to begin. The DJ finally gets there and says he doesn't have a song for the sand ceremony we are going to do and that we didn't tell him about it. If he would have come to meet us like he was supposed to, he would have known, so I have to spend the next 10 minutes searching for the song (keep in mind we are trying to take bridal party pictures etc). Then as we were going to take those pictures I asked the manager Hector to lock the door to the two dressing rooms and walked in the room and looked behind the curtain for the key (why it was in the room I don't know) and he said he couldn't find it and he would go to the office and get the other key. He never came up to me and told me the doors never got locked. It was not until halfway through the reception, when I went up to get a drink from the bar, that I went to grab my phone and the door was still unlocked. I didn't think much of it at the time and I went back downstairs. During the reception the DJ played about 8 of the 85 songs we had given him. He said "oh I couldn't find them, so I used these." Well that is not what we are paying you for. Luckily our families are pretty laid back so we just went along with it. The bartender (we provided our own alocohol) didn't know how to make a cherry vodka sour for my wife. How do you not know how to make a cherry vodka sour..? and yet we are paying you to be a bartender. When it came time for the cake, the cake was served to everyone before my wife and I ever realized that the cake had been cut. YES, THEY DIDN'T EVEN LET US CUT OUR OWN CAKE for photo opportunities, to be the first ones to try the cake, NOR DID THEY SERVE THE GROOMS CAKE. I had no idea the cake had even been served until I walked up to our table and saw it sitting there. I was never told it was even there. All that said, we get to the end of the night and walking out the door when one of the bridesmaids exclaims that $200 is missing from her wallet, which prompted the other bridesmaids to look in theres. Sure enough, another one had money stolen as well. When we brough it up to Hector he was quick to say "well I didn't do it what do you want me to do about it?" He began making sarcastic remarks to the bridesmaid and said he wasn't going to do anything about it because he didn't do it. REMEMBER, I ASKED THAT THE DOORS BE LOCKED and they never were locked, nor was I told the door never got locked. I TRULY HOPE THAT THIS COSTS THEM AT LEAST ONE PARTY ($7-10,000), AS THEY WOULD NOT ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR WHAT HAPPENED ON THEIR PREMISES. All you had to do was give her the $200 that was in her wallet and take ownership that it happened at your establishment, while YOU were providing security, and you were asked to lock the doors and never did. I did not ask for any return on the terrible service we received that night, but the LEAST you could do was to refund her money, whether you took it or not. The place was a little more inexpensive than the rest of the places we looked at, but I guess we got what we paid for.
