This place is interesting as on the outside it looks like a full grocery store but on the inside it is only a little bit of everything. The thing is, I might come back here, probably because I came in here quickly to get a quick soda, a bollillo, and a pan dulce. When I walked in I noticed they had a small amount of fruits, a soda refrigerator, a small panaderia, a small fresh meat section ( I didn't really go back to see if they had seafood) , and an area selling real chicharonnes. Real chicharonnes! Don't threaten me with a good time. They sell some food near the chicharonnes but I don't want to get addicted because it looks so good!! Now, they have Mexican sodas and Tropochico of course. Thier pan dulce didn't look all that so hot. I got a concha with pink sugar that was ok. I always tear my concha with my hand and scoop up the sugar that falls off. It was ok. Not the best. The bolillo was fresh but absolutely horrible. They are better everywhere else. It had the taste and texture of plain white bread. I just ate a bite. I got a Mexican Coke and that is always good. I'll go back and walk around more. Looks like they have a steady stream of people. When I went in there was only one other couple there checking out. They have a security guard. Maybe because people probably mostly pay cash but calm down a little. It's not Arandas.

Pretty good tacos and even though I don't speak Spanish, the lady was patient with getting my order. She even gave me a ton of salsa with all the tacos that I ordered. I've been going here for years, but another location. They always do great by me!

Cheese Empanada had mold! GROSS! I went to the manager and she didn't even say I'm SORRY! I told her I was going to file a complaint and she just said ok. Never will I go there again. So gross!

Overall my experience here was good. Clean environment & the Cashier is so friendly and helpful! Came here particularly one morning to order breakfast tacos! Food was delicious and hot, ready to serve. The ordering station could have a little bit of a wait.

Stay away from the barbacoa, it is more fat then meat, they mix all the head meat together and it forms this mush with flakes of fat through out the meat, greasy and no taste. I rather drive across town to Alamo or find some other place closer to get real barbacoa!

Every time I go here the ladies at the register and the gentleman that serves the food, are both always beyond rude. I don't understand why. I'm a paying customer that comes regularly, even though they're rude. For the second time, I paid for breakfast tacos, the lady at the register said they had breakfast and even went to the kitchen to make sure, but when I go to get the tacos they say sorry we're out of breakfast. When I asked why she said they had it when they dont, her response was "they didn't tell me, they never do." So I asked what she went back there to make sure of if she was wrong. She had no response. I'm sorry but as much as I like the products and food, the employees are just not worth dealing with. I've noticed that if you don't speak Spanish, they don't really care. I will not be going here anymore.

La Michoacana is a pillar of the Mexican community in Houston and now its in Energy Corridor. You can come here for the Mexican groceries, bakery, or head straight to the taco counter. That's where I start my review. The food is delicious and the portions will definitely make me a regular. There was some confusion at first as to whether one should order in line or get a receipt from the cashier first. I speak Spanish so I resolved it easily. For all 7 non-Hispanic customers that came after me, you could see their frustration. My recommendation to the reader: if you can get by with Spanish, get in line. If the experience is already puzzling and all you want are tacos, go ahead and order them at the cashier, get your receipt, and move back to the line. The food prep will use your receipt to build your meal. You can get by picking and choosing different items in line. Chances are you're going to love what you get or still feel puzzled on how to order. Check the large screens above for combo/menu items that are perfect introductions to Mexican street food. Most of these items include a Mexican drink. Tacos, gorditas and huaraches all come with the salad topping, so there's no need to order it. Salsas and pickled toppings are at a separate bar. I got the Two Gordita and drink combo and that was baller. I chose a different protein with each Gordita and I am happy about the portion size. La Michoacana does well all over the Mexican communities. I wish there was some more direction for English speakers, especially during lunch time. I almost gave it 4 out of 5 stars today is because the line takes awhile since most of the translation is done by fellow customers and there was confusion on HOW to order. Everyone behind the counter seemed eager to help, but a sign with steps would probably benefit everyone in the long run. I loved seeing non Hispanic people eat try the food here. I would hate for them to not come back because it all seems too puzzling. I know a sign in English seems like you're holding people by the hand, but when other customers translate, you're slowing down everything Post Update: I cracked the ordering system. You order at the line but if their cashier isn't there, you need to go to the store cashier to order, and take your receipt back to the ordering line. How did I discover this? My second visit I to the site and I really felt frustrated by how you should order. I waited at the tray area for 5 minutes before anyone told to go order at the cashier first. I came back with my receipt and no one seemed bothered to take my order. The store cashier wasn't busy and has a headset to talk to other departments. She didn't seem bothered to help me at all. After 8 minutes standing I tapped the counter bell. Someone came and took my order fast and after I was about to leave the tray line, someone asked me if I needed to pay for my meal. I asked where I should pay next time, and she responded either was fine. You need to ask for the salsa cups while you're in line and they are stingy with them. I really think they should label their "guisados" so that the non-Spanish speaker knows what proteins to add to their tacos.

Came by about 2 hours ago for a late lunch, I didn't know they had a location here until I drove by. I love to stop by La Michoacanas when I'm working because they're all over Texas and im always on the road in either Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, Austin, and occasionally the Valley. It's a company with many locations that I can always trust to have great authentic Mexican food that's warm and ready. Today I got the Gordita special which comes with 2 gorditas and a drink all for $5! I got one pastor and one fajita with the green avocado sauce and a agua de mango, it was all super delicious and served quick. Will definitely be back to this location when I'm in the area!

Terrible .... they changed the name and became worse . Always short on lime , and when you ask for it they look at you weird . Why do I have to beg you for a lime?! My last experience there I ordered in the drive thru and they gave me grease filled tacos ! No kidding !!! It was leaking so bad it spilled all in my damn car ! Never the fuck again
