It was Spring Break and we went to watch Captain Marvel. Movie Tavern was the closest with show time we wanted. Didn't know they had a Tuesday special, but it worked out and we saved quite a bit, as tickets were only $5 each. That was probably the best part about it. The theater itself looked a bit old and empty. We went for a 6:15pm showing and there was absolutely less than 10 people total in our auditorium. We ordered some food, paid for it and got the food relatively quickly. The server never came back, so we left cash tip on the table. It happened to be in digital 3D, which really did not enhance the movie experience. This movie was probably not meant for 3D or their screen was not meant for 3D. We found ourselves taking the 3D glasses throughout the movie to see better!

Have to love it! So I've never been here as I frequent studio movie grill a ton. The view of the outside of this place is deceiving it doesn't not look spectacular at all hints me never visiting until now. What a surprise! 1. The lobby, very clean, nice carpet not torn or dirty, bright & bubbly vibe 2. Movie screens, clean, crisp picture, great sound, too loud, not too low. Comfortable seating, clean again in great condition not worn down. 3. Bar area, open spacious, awesome radio tunes jamming for a great DJ vibe, get hype, turn up, nice after work scene or before movie sipping on a date. 4. Food, I only ordered fries as I just came from brunch. Awesome fries, thick but cooked all the way through, super crunchy on the outside, slightly battered, tender on the inside. Like homemade they were excellent for a movie theater. Actually much better than studio movie grill. 5. I think ticket was $7.75 matinee not bad. Note to self, try new movie theaters & dont judge the book by its cover, LOL sometimes the grass IS greener on the other side. :)

Use to be a nice spot, over the years it has deteriorated, from the appearance to the service. Purchased tickets online, which was the quickest carefree process. Pressed the button to be served and waited until 5 mins before the movie to received service. Once the food arrived it was undercooked, food came before the drinks, never received the water that was ordered. Took 12 mins to come and get the uncooked food and drink, by this time I was no longer hungry. If I would have reordered it would have taken longer. My friend ordered wings and a drink although it took a while to come out they turned out fine. The smell in the theatre upon entry is horrible, like spoiled food, like the carpet needs cleaning. The seat numbers are laminated on each table, table tops weren't clean and seats were full of crumbs and looked like spilled drinks. The last visit should have been my last visit due to the smell but I decided to give them another try. This will be the last.

half a pound of wings isn't much, they do what they can, wings are pretty pricey for the serving. I like cheesy fries, salad isn't my thing at theatres, burger sliders are ok- pickles are sweet. Food is aiight! thats what you get at Movie Tavern! Chairs aren't too uncomfortable, its like an office chair... so idk.. it's no ipic theatre, its higher tier than the $1.50 movies, but not as pricey as AMC. So come thru if all tickets are sold out everywhere else OR you wanna go to ITZ after- NOT ASSIGNED SEATING- first come first serve, order ya tickets online! Grab you a pitcher of beer and enjoy the showing! you know what it was when you signed up! ooooohhhh- they wanna scan your cc before they send the order to the kitchen- BTW- it takes a while for them to come when the lights are on- this isn't the greatest most expensive theatre so don't expect top notch service- bc we knoooow you aint giving no top notch tip! So just come for the movie- and don't be too big about the food- its gonna be all good! aiight?

Came in on Sunday, July 1 for a 7pm movie. Reminder for your waitstaff....your customers are ready to order when they press the button. Coming to our seats 3 times BEFORE we press the button doesn't make us press the button faster - it only irritates your customers. Also, when your customer orders a Bloody Mary - you might want to serve it as described. I received just the drink itself - no extras.

Father and son night. While everybody else was tented on the sidewalks of Best Buy, Walmart and Target I decided to take my son here to see "The Immortals" (4 1/2 star movie for us!) $20 for him and I, went to the bar since we had an hour and a half to kill. Ouch, $32 for a Guiness, Mr. Pibb ($3.50!! ouch) and two 10" meat lovers pizza, $3.50 cookie/marshmallow dessert and $6 tip ouch! The pizza is ok if your pretty hungry otherwise as far as the food prices on the menu you are paying for convenience to eat inside a theater, I completely understand that, just better off eating before stepping in here. The service since it was a really slow night was good, except for the almost "Asian style restaurant service" where my son had to go to the counter (bar) to get a refill on the drink, but at least later the bartender came around and asked if we needed anything else and dropped off the check after we ordered my cookie dessert. Seating, 'ok' comfortable. There were a combination regular theater seats and office desk style chairs that were pretty comfortable. We sat in one of these because I wanted a different feeling other than the typical stadium type "non movable" seating. Movie sound and quality were ok, we did the 3d thing. Sound was very good, crispy and not loud. With the 3d glasses sometimes the edges were a tad blurry but that could just be the way the movie is "encoded?" but I'm not 100% sure because I'm not en enthusiast on the technical side of that. $60 time for father and son wasn't what I was expecting but we don't do this often, time together, priceless. I've visited this location many times and it was an ok theater to frequent. This past Friday I went to see Under Water and just so happen to be the only person in our particular theater. When I arrived in the theater it was still cluttered with trash and plates with unfinished food and cups with unfinished drinks. I assume they clean the theaters before each showing so I don't know why the theater hadn't been cleaned but our waiter came in and took our order even with the theater littered with debris. After a second waiter came in to bring water I asked them if someone could come in and clean up the trash. Probably 15 minutes later someone came in and turned all the lights on in the theater in the middle of the movie. Once he saw me he turned the lights back off and proceeded to the dirty area and apologized.

Don't waste your hard earned money. Go to another theater. Food was acceptable, theater smelled old and musty. Water tasted just as bad. Service was slow and absent once our order was placed. Part of order didn't arrived, flipped the service light, took about 15 min for someone to show up. Never got drink refills and didn't see server until he brought us our check.

We used to really enjoy coming here but it has progressively declined over time with wear and tear and new management. There has always been a bit of a "smell" in most of the theaters here which continues to baffle us seeing as this isn't an old theater compared to several competitors. We hoped with the new management that this would be resolved but it hasn't yet. With the new management the tickets are now more expensive throughout the week and are pretty much on par with the area competitors that offer nicer amenities, but we do love the new $5 Tuesdays and the fact that Movie Tavern has not moved to reserved seating. We never expect 5-star food from a movie theater but we've noticed that the menu continues to get more pricy with less options available and much smaller portions. IMO, the menu is a feeble attempt at what Alamo Drafthouse offered. Many of our "go to" items have been removed from the menu so now we just make it a point to see a movie at a time when we can eat elsewhere before or after if we come to Movie Tavern. The request lights aren't connected to anything anymore so the servers have to actually notice your light is on which can be very hit and miss. Some of the servers are awesome....some are more worried about watching the movie from the entry hall or never appearing at all. We do appreciate that Movie Tavern employs people with varying abilities. We greatly miss the age requirements after certain hours that the old management enforced. The theaters are often noisy now and we have yet to see management step in to control it. The Tuesday special and the fact that Movie Tavern has not moved to reserved seating are the only 2 things separating Movie Tavern from several nearby competitors at this point. This review would have been 1 star based on everything else when comparing it to nearby competitors but the Tuesday special earns an extra star for this theater.
