I'm a proud Houstonian through and through and rep the H all day, everyday! I love all the major sports teams but rugby was never something I knew or really hear about. That is until recently when a group of friends and I wanted to do something out of our norm and check out something new to all of us. Introducing the Houston Sabercats, Houston's major league rugby team. The stadium is located right off 288 south of the loop, and right before entering entering into Pearland city limits. I drive by and see the signs daily coming and going from work, but never saw the stadium up close. Truth be told, I wasn't expecting a crowd but was totally surprised driving up and seeing a packed lot with people tailgating. Let me tell you, the fan base was very diverse from young and old and they supported their team proudly. Excitement was in the air which pumped me up as well. Ticket prices were reasonable considering there really isn't a bad seat in the house. There's all kinds of stuff happening in and around the stadium. They have different vendors selling merch, food, and drinks. Platypus Brewing had their own set up right when you walk in, but they also had little tents popped up around selling different food and drinks. There was also another area selling liquor. Merch was pretty spendy, but people were buying them up. The game itself was very fun to watch. I still have alot to learn as far as the rules goes. I would compare it to football, but alot tougher as these guys are going at it with little to no padding. Rugby is something I think I can get behind and I will for sure be back to check it out again.

This was my first time going to a rugby game and it definitely won't be my last either. I was not expecting a big turn out but the stadium was packed with a lot of supporting fans. The game itself was entertaining & our team tore our opponents to pieces. They had a good amount of pop up tents/vendors selling variety of stuff. They had a beer table, snacks, lemonade stand, alcohol stand. & if you want your ball park food they also have a concession stand. The lines moved very fast but they were out of a lot of items. I wanted a hot dog but they were out of it so I ordered their cheeseburger. Which I thought tasted okay. My favorite was their lemonade stand. For 3 dollars a cup I thought that was pretty cheap considering everything is expensive at the ball park. They do have a good amount of parking but it's definitely a hassle and chaotic when everyone is exiting the parking lot. Parking is 15 bucks which is ridiculous for a rugby game but you gotta make money so I ain't mad at it. Overall, it was a great experience and I can't wait to come back for another game. You wanna avoid the chaos parking? Take uber.

First time checking out a live rugby game, and the weather couldn't have been more perfect! It's great to see MLR gaining traction, especially as it's still a relatively new league. Our stadium is on the smaller side though (4,000?). I was able to walk around fairly easily and explored various concessions and activities. It had a vibrant and energetic atmosphere and I really hope this sport continues to grow! The stadium is located on the outskirts almost on the way to Pearland. Reasonable ticket prices for such a close-up view (really no bad seats in the whole stadium), but the parking is a bit of a hassle at $15 and getting out at the same time can be bit of a bottleneck but also understandable given the size and location. Overall, it was fun family-friendly entertainment, I had a good time with a group of fellow yelpers. Definitely would come back.

The stadium was great. It's located in the outskirts of Houston suburbs and close to the beginning of Pearland. I came to SaberCats Stadium to attend a tailgate party and the rugby game. I had so much fun during the game. It's a fully-packed entertainment. They did a great job on the audience participation. It was my first time watching rugby and I have been bragging about it. The most exciting part of the game was the post-game social. I got to mingle with the players and take photos. I didn't prepare anything for autographs this time. Perhaps next time. I met with the ticket salesperson Mike during the tailgate party. I told him how much I loved the game. He introduced me to buy season pass for next year. Yay, I'm definitely coming back on June 8. Oh a friend warned me about rugby game being dangerous. I told him, "yeah I almost got hit by the ball landing on my head. Twice." Hahaha.

For years we have discussed coming out to a game. I have never been to a rugby game before, and I am always down to support The H in whatever sport. No, I'm not from here, and no, I haven't always been exclusive to Houston sports. But since the retirement of the GOAT, I have brought 99% of my support over to Houston sports. I was NOT expecting the crowd. We have dedication. Not in the form of numbers, and tailgating. The stands were pretty packed. They had quite a few tables and pop-up tents selling stuff out on the side so there was a plethora of things you could get versus your standard concession fare. They also had liquor tables, and beer tables. Bread throughout. Lines were not that bad. $30 for second row seats midfield, not a bad deal. The view was great. It also helped that the weather was very kind that evening. Overall, a fantastic experience at a new place. It also helps that it's 5 minutes from my house. Parking is 15 bucks and a pretty big lot. As you might expect. There's quite the traffic jam to get out. I would suggest bringing chairs and hanging out for a bit after the game to let the traffic situation die down.

Had an amazing time watching the Houston Sabercats win their game against LA RFC! This was my first MLR game and it was so exciting to see the sport of rugby grow in the USA. Houston knows how to bring the party. Enjoyed good local beer and wonderful time! Can't wait for another.

Very cool venue. As a rugby fan, I am super-excited to see purpose-built rugby stadia in America -- and Texas no less! For this last weekend, I was on the two neighboring field-grade pitches. (Amateur rugby finals), but I think the overall compound is fantastic. I hope Dallas Jackals will find/build a similar, more right-sized, venue. Choctaw Stadium is a nightmare.

Went to my first rugby game this weekend and had a blast. While the stadium is small, it works well because no matter where you are you can see the game, even when you're off buying a beer. And at the end of the game, it's a 30 second walk to the car!

I had no idea that this place even existed until recently. Houston has a rugby team? Who knew? To be fair, I only discovered this place after bringing my son to the Big Bounce America event that was held on the same grounds. I must say that this is a gorgeous facility as everything is still pretty brand new. They did a really great job on the construction. There is no additional parking around the grounds and so you are forced to use their lot. As I recall, they were charging $10 to park cash only so plan well in advance. My son and I had a really great time at the event and can't wait to make it back for an actual rugby match.
