I can't believe that name was not already taken in Houston, unless it (they?) went out of business. This location is just outside of Joe V's Smart Shop. Conroe has the other location. Summary: It's average for fast food, or in other words, "C" food. I gave it 2 stars instead of 3 for comparison to better places nearby, such as F _ _ h H _ _s _ (do you want to buy a vowel?). The place is fully remodeled and looks like a chain restaurant, including drive-thru. It has semi-comfortable booths and small tables. Although the name says "seafood", it's really 50% that and 50% other things, like Cajun, Mexican, Chinese and even some BBQ, wings & burgers. Lots of food options, and not much customer traffic. You know what that means, right? It must use a lot of frozen goods (or if not, they run to Joe V's). The menu options are generally set in 3 price ranges: $7, $8 and $9 (with some exceptions up to $14). For seafood, you can have it grilled, blackened or fried (or, perhaps like the Rodeo, you can get any of the food items fried). Sides include salad, cole slaw, grilled vegetables, green beans, okra, beans & many other options (although, no kelp). My catch: "3 & 3" with catfish & shrimp, 2 sides choices: crab balls (2), cole slaw; and a small piece of grilled, buttered French bread. There were 3 other customers at lunchtime. I could not understand why it took so long to get my food. Cole slaw was very good and fresh. I did not like the shrimp. They are imported/farmed, probably from Asia, and don't taste anywhere near as good as Gulf Shrimp. I left one on the plate. I did not like the crab ball. Too much filling and not enough crab meat (looks like strings of crab). This has all the evidence of being a supplied frozen food item. I left one on the plate. Catfish fillets were tender, no fishy taste, and the batter was not too thick or greasy, but something is not great about the taste. I left one on the plate. I had another line to write, but I left one on the plate.

Seafood Cafe just recently went under new management, and I have to say, I am glad it did. The food presentation is astounding as well as the quantity and quality. The food comes in hot and fresh right out the plate! The variety from Chinese to Cajun is also a nice touch to the restaurant, so there's more to offer then just seafood. The food also looks exactly like how it does in the pictures, and that's a good sign! I couldn't be more impressed. The manager is kind and friendly, the employees always come up and ask you from time to time if you need anything, so the friendly service adds to the enjoyment of the restaurant. Whenever I ordered the Veracruz and Shrimp Fried rice, I was impressed by the quantity and taste that most restaurants do not offer. and the price was reasonable plus the service made my visit a delight! I'll be sure to visit here again!

1-10-2013 Sorry for the late review. Wife was getting nails done next door. So I decided to kill time and give this place a try. The owner was a great guy. Good service I ordered the 5/5 that's five shrimp and five catfish with fried okra and red beans and rice. The shrimp was large and fish was a decent size. If your on a quick lunch break or just want to pick up something quick. The place is OK. I wouldn't go on a date here. It has a little of every thing on the menue. When I see a lot of stuff in a small place like this in the HOOD I stick to the fried items. Did do my usaul RR check but next time wife is getting nails done. I will hit it up again. I did see a lot of call in orders.

I purchased a Groupon early Sunday morning and decided and try it out with my boyfriend for dinner. I was nervous once I got on yelp and saw that it had a 2 star review.. luckily when we got there, there was a HUGE sign that said under new management. We ordered: Cajun Pasta, Tilapia Tacos, Philly Cheesesteak, & a small Shrimp Gumbo. Boyfriend really liked the tacos but he said the philly cheesesteak was just OK. I enjoyed my shrimp gumbo but not so much the cajun pasta... it tasted like they just poured the sauce out from a jar -- loose and watery, eck.. not my taste. I'd come back for the gumbo -- $2.99 for a small && the portion is not so small; good deal to me. I'd come back for the gumbo.

I don't know why the reviews for this "cafe" are so negative! My hubby and I have been twice in a week we were so impressed. And this was before i discovered that they had a "Groupon Now!" Deal out there. I love that they have such a variety of entrees for you to choose from, and try them we have! My hubby and I both really enjoyed the cajun pasta and I'm a big fan of the shrimp and catfish. Both times we've been, our service was amazing (even got a free refill on a beverage that didn't come w/ refills), and our food came out quickly and piping hot. Sure, its not in an A+ part of town but man, their food is good! We are going to try the vera cruz dish next :-)
