# Thai Yummy – Authentic Thai Restaurant in Houston, TX

I had to say Thai Yummy still under soft opening. I went here to try something out and thinking to come back today for the real experience. But I sign posted on the door, saying closed next 3 days in Chinese. Not in English. As I described my experience with management yesterday after my taste test (partially paid by me). Trying to market chicken feet is not going to get much attractions. But they don't care. They're only targeting to Chinese customers. The sign pretty much proved his point. It is the same owner as Yammy Kitchen but different restaurant operator. I was told they have another Thai restaurant in memorial area next to Apple Store. But he didn't tell me the name. I'm not a Thai food person. I can't tell what good or bad. But did they follow the basic restaurant principle? Yes, they did. They just have a good planning as typical for most restaurants. I ordered spicy soup and egg rolls. Soup was too salty toward the end. There were 5-6 huge shrimps in there. It was not as sour, but fine with me. Egg rolls were accompanied by a homemade chilli sauce, which was tasty. The presentation was lacking of garnishment with the rolls. He said they were still waiting for plates to arrive. So, I doesn't to criticize on how they look. I made a suggestion about the signage. I wish they would put "soft opening" on the outside or inside. That would give them rooms for improvement and not bombarded with criticism.

Saw a big new sign in front of the GW supermarket, decided to go give the place a try. The cook turned on the open sign, but forgot to unlock the door, so we waited outside for like 5 min. Once we got in, the older lady at the register was really nice, said was day 5 since opening. Food was ok, got the Pad Thai, Green Beans with Pork, and Chilli Chicken. Nothing tasted bad per se, but nothing was really good either. Just run of the mill food. The best thing was the green beans and ground pork. It tasted ok, but not as good as the pad kapra from Thai Spice, give it 4*s. The Pad Thai looked good, with chicken and 2 large shrimps, but unfortunately lacking a bit of sweet and sourness that I usually expect with Pad Thai. The shrimp also tasted a bit on the dry side, didnt seem too fresh, 2*s. The chilli chicken was basically general joes chicken with a bit of chilli sauce, didnt like it too much, stick with panda express orange chicken, 2*s. Small place, kinda hidden away towards the back. Not sure for how long it will last, but as of 2/11/23, they have a 20% off for all orders, so go check them out.

New Thai restaurant located where Yummy Kitchen was. The inside looks exactly the same with the same furniture. I ordered to go so can't speak to the service but the cashier didn't speak much English. Menus had pictures and English so was good enough to order. Prices are average, portion sizes good. But food doesn't taste like authentic Thai. Tastes more like Chinese food. I won't be going back.

I saw this driving by. It took me couple weeks before I pulled in to try. This place is Thai food but Chinese cook. I had the green curry with chicken and I'd give it 4.5/5 ... the spicy level had a nice kick. It's white meat chicken and with egg plant, bamboo was perfect. It's pretty good from most place I have tried. I also got fried pork chop ... it doesn't have a sauce but it was good. For the dessert I got the coconut and sago. I'm totally addicted to it.

It was warm day in Houston and for lunch we decided to eat at Chinatown, and chose Thai Yummy restaurant. I ordered salad, and spicy soup, mmm so spicy but the same time so tasty. I really enjoyed. Fast service and warm welcoming. Recommend!

We were here on a rainy and cold day. We ordered a Thai soup and Chinese noodles rolls with shrimp and beef! They were excellent!! Will be back to try the curries!!

food is in a sense "you get what you paid for", it's good veggie egg rolls, pad thai, mango sticky rice, & mango sago . The lady who always helps me is the nicest and most accommodating. & it is a little fly in the wall place that is small but very welcoming and homy.

I have eaten a lot of good authentic Thai food and this was not any where near to that. we had pad Thai and ton Thai gai. the pad Thai had no Thai flavor and tasted more like bad Chinese stir fry. The Tom kha gai was watery, flavorless and the chicken was leathery. There were some mushrooms and a few shrimp. The whole thing was disappointing. Service was minimal and we will not return.

I was shopping in Chinatown and saw a new restaurant opening sign call Thai Yummy. It sounds refreshing and thought it didn't hurt to try. Sadly to say that was a total disappointed. I ordered the Pad Thai which tasted terrible. It didn't have the sweet sour favor I expected. Little sourness I tasted was like a dish that had sit for 3/4 days. Then I order the mango sticky rice. It was sticky alright. I broke 2 plastic forks to try to get a piece to eat. I made a complained to the cashier who didn't speak any English. The place is not ready to open. Heard the cooks talking Chinese in the kitchen. I wonder how much they know about the Thai food. Very much agree with A.G. in his review. This is neither Thai nor Yummy. Will never go back again.

Not authentic Thai food, wouldn't recommend. If you're looking for a authentic Thai place try Tony Thai or Thai Siam.
