Alright here me out.. I love oysters especially chargrilled oysters. This spot has been coming on my Instagram and I decided to try it with a co worker. I wouldn't call this place a restaurant, I would say this is a elevated pop up. This place is located between two buildings, it doesn't have sinks and from what I can tell no restrooms available to the public and a makeshift bar. They do have a portable sink so you can wash your hands. You are literally sitting outside at this spot. They have a margarita machine but it wasn't working. They serve kool-aid, soft drinks and water. The menu is basic oysters, crab legs and shrimp. The service was good, we came about 15 mins after opening and they were still setting up. The waitress was nice and inviting. Now the food, ayyeee ayeee the food was delicious. I do want to say the prices are a bit high, especially for the size of some of the oysters. They are shucking and grilling as you order so the wait time will be about 30 to 45 mins, probably more if it's busy. The sanity sauce is a balance between sweet and spicy. I ordered the Rockefeller with 6 shrimp and my total came out to around 67$. My co worker told me they add a automatic tip but I liked the waitress and gave an additional tip so all together it was 75$. I don't know about anybody else but that's a tad high to me just for the food but I wanted to try it so I paid it and gave a tip because the waitress doesn't make the prices. The shrimp were large with the heads on, the oysters were really good and they even give you seasoned crackers. Overall when this place becomes a brick and morter which I am sure eventually it will. I can see it being a success. They have a BYOB policy now but charge 10$ to bring in the drink. They have hookah and i am sure as the night goes on they will have music. The food is good and I am again sure they will expand their menu. It will be a spot the Houston natives will flock too because i can see it becoming a vibe. I'm glad I tried it but I probably won't be back. The food is definitely overpriced and the set up is not my cup of tea. I would recommend if you can get past the not having a restroom thing and being outside.

The Oyster Hut. Located right across the Street from The Turkey Leg Hut. My friend posted a video of oysters and they looked visually appetizing, so I had to try! These Oysters were huge ! If you're a Oyster enthusiast, The Oyster Hut in Houston is a must-visit gem that will surely leave your taste buds dancing with joy. Nestled in a cozy corner of the city on Almeda Rd. This unassuming spot offers a good Oyster experience that is both delightful and memorable. The staff who took my order were very friendly and attentive, making me feel right at home. She gave me recommendations and I ended up ordering the "Original Oyster" which comes with ParmesanCheese and Drizzled with Tiger's Special Sauce on top. The oysters! Fresh, plump, and bursting with flavor, the oysters here are simply mouthwatering. Chargrilled to perfection. They are constantly updating the menu as well with different oyster additions. Definitely get there for the one time !

Man oh man!!!! A relaxed seafood spot in Third Ward worth visiting for sure. If you're looking for great seafood without the fuss, the Oyster Hut is the place to be. The oysters are truly something special, nothing like you'll find anywhere else in Texas. The crawfish? Absolutely on point & flavorful. The vibe here is relaxed and welcoming, with Blues and Old School R&B setting the perfect backdrop. It honestly feels like hanging out in your backyard with family and friends. The staff make you feel right at home with their friendly service. Oh, and it's BYOB! Bring your favorite drinks, kick back, and enjoy. If you're in the mood for fresh seafood and good company, give the Oyster Hut a try....you will not regret it!!

Sitting here thinking I should just ask for my money back....I done watched a whole basketball game waiting on my food! For the price, the service needs work. I hope they get it together cause the idea is a good one.

It's always a great time at The Oyster Hut! You are greeted with very attentive and courteous service. They have good music, great vibes, and beyond exceptional food. I don't know what sauce they used on my plate but it's good enough to drink! Need a seafood fix, look no further!!

Let me assure you that I do not know the owner from a can of paint. However, I got interested in his story after reading about one of his other businesses that he started. My point is, before you read the other bad reviews about this place, or offer one up yourself, make sure you know the backstory. As I understand it, the owner just recently owned one of the premiere restaurants in Houston. He recently had to start completely over due to some fishy circumstances in his community and by folks close to him. There are many forces he has had to work his way through to reset his situation. After hearing about and reading his story, I got to tell you that there may be some serious haters out there posting negative reviews for no other reason than get backs or just plain evil a$% intentions. Again, if you truly had a bad experience, go talk to the owner or his management team first. I got a good feeling that they will make it right.

This is a cool place to hang out on a nice day. The waitstaff is very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately the food was not fantastic. Ordered the oyster hut special with oysters, shrimp, & snow crab. Everything was overcooked and snow crab was cold. They also add an automatic 16% tip that I did not see noted anywhere. I didn't realize that until looking at my receipt in addition to my 18% tip for an establishment that you order at a counter...

Not a great experience. You are literally sitting in an outside junkyard gravel pit stop area with a half covered tin roof. Talk about slumming it. When you see where he started out on Almeda to this.. especially after stealing the Tiger2Dozens oyster recipes. The food had been way more miss than hit since this move & it's clearly NOT worth the prices. After putting them out in the street and now the Oyster Hut owner being who he is, Tiger2Dozen now has a beautiful flourishing place in Richmond avenue. You can't steal and do people wrong or this is how you'll end up. I can't go back after knowing his history especially after how much we supported TLH with our $$. I'm being very generous with these two stars.
