Delicious! First, this was my first time here and I received a small complimentary sampler plate for the table...very small tastes of their veggies & a two small bites of chicken so we could judge the plain against the spicy. The manager came around (don't know his name, but his wife just had a baby) & conversed with us, checking on the food quality. What a great representative for the restaurant. Well, the food was hot, & the food was perfect, we'll be back.

I love fried chicken - always have from those days growing up when Popeye's still served dirty rice. I also love hot chicken since I had Hattie B's in Nashville. My first introduction to Tumble 22 was for a friend's birthday. We were out and still hungry, so we went here. Even better that it's close to home. Parking is limited to under 20 spots - on the side and towards Center Street which is dimly lit at night. The Houston Ave. location has plenty of table seating and a large bar area. Service was great for a group of six people. We asked our server if the manager could sing happy birthday for our friend. He actually came out, brought a Texas pecan pie and we all sang. It was good, but I ordered the chocolate cream pie which was phenomenal. I ordered dirty fries which had pulled white chicken, queso and pickles. It was ok, but I thought the chicken was a little dry cut up, and the fries weren't that great. Would work better with fat fries than skinny with all the toppings. Since then, I've had their chicken bites and mac-n-cheese at an event at the zoo for Feasts with the Beasts. The Mac-n-cheese was so memorable that I also ordered twice from the Houston Ave. location. This time I tried the 2 pc boneless thighs and then 1/4 dark and upgraded for two thighs instead of a thigh and leg. The hot was good enough for me and had great flavor. I like spicy chicken or spicy food in general but not at the expense of losing my taste and having everything taste bitter. The bread it comes with gets soaked in that spicy oil. I'm not a fan of the bread-n-butter pickle because it's sweet. I prefer sour pickles. I highly recommend the dark meat over white. The chicken was hot, juicy and had crispy skin. The 1/4 dark bone-in thigh was large, and they didn't skimp on the size when I upgraded the leg for it. The boneless thighs were just as good even though the pieces were smaller. It was still filling. Both times I chose the mac-n-cheese. With the 1/4 dark combo, you get two sides, so I doubled up. The cheese is so good. It's a white, thick cheese over cavatappi spiral pasta. Eventually, I'll try the sandwiches. The O.G., Lil' O.G., and The Southern sound appealing. There's also milkshakes, salads, deviled eggs, and chicken Korean style with gochujang. If you like homemade pies, hot chicken (can also get it without spice) and mac-n-cheese, check them out! Btw, when you dine in, you can get a stamp card for a free meal up to $15 off after 10 stamps.

Perfect spot to kick back with friends, grab a drink, and catch a game! Even better if you're pregaming before an Astros, Rockets, or Texans game -- spicy chicken + cold drinks = unbeatable combo. I ordered the 2-piece tender plate, Cluckin' Hot. Let's just say those beers started disappearing real fast before the heat even hit. The spice sneaks up on you -- not overly seasoned like other spots, but still packs a punch. The service was honestly the best part. They were a bit understaffed when I visited, but the bartender was handling drinks and taking care of us like a pro. Cool dude, never missed a refill, and made the experience that much better. Only small gripe: the sauces. Nothing crazy memorable -- maybe next time I'll ask for the tenders tossed and see if that hits the mark. Overall, great vibes, good heat, and an awesome spot to hang out before or after the game. I'll definitely be back for round two (and extra sauce, fingers crossed).

Overall a mid chicken experience. I appreciate they have the first time sampler plate but after that we really lowered our expectations. We considered leaving but were just so hungry. The deviled eggs were prettt decent. The chicken really didn't have much flavor and then the sprinkle hotness on top wasn't flavorful just hot. The pickles and buns were good tho. We did get buttermilk pie the end which was the best part. Our server Elijah was very fun

We loved everything. The atmosphere- so good. The chicken - so crispy and delicious! The service - Preciosa was an excellent server with a great smile! Very accommodating and knowledgeable. The first time visit platter was so great for judging what sides to order and how spicy to get the chicken.

Ok. This is the 2nd time and I'm confirming a few facts. Tumble 22 tastes so great ! Yes, it's franchise and it's consistent ! At least for the two times I've visited. For first timers, please announce yourselves. Your server will grant you a sampler of chicken and spice levels + sides. You want to stay alive with mild spicy or you want to try they "stupid hot" level, at your own risk! But our first server, Hung, gave us suchhhhh a great first impression and so hyped that this lasted ever since. His level of energy is kinda rare these days. The second time, I wanted to see how quick I'd lose my taste. Our server did not hesitate to give us a sampler of that "dang hot" level. Glad I did because I was not enjoying food anymore. "hot" or "mo hot" is definitely a good spice point. I'm weak. They serve beers on draft or not, N/A beers if you're into that, cocktails and other type of alcohol. But soda or water is good too! Food is delicious and fresh. Fries are crispy. Sides are super fun to have. A slight sense of healthy with the broccoli lol. They have this whole dessert menu that's intimidating me. Pies and milkshakes. How do people fit this after so many goodies beforehand ? I'm still curious, maybe one day. I enjoyed the whole vibe and friendliness of the place. Definitely adding this as a fun casual spot to hang out at .

Went back with friends who have never been. ARY was our server and she did a great job explaining the sampler to our friends! I got the OG with dirty fries again and was stuffed by the time I was done. But really solid meal with good flavor! The drinks here at the bar were just OK, maybe safer to get a beer here. The peanut butter chocolate cake was much saltier then usual this go around and the slices got smaller!

I have to give this place a rave review because from the service to the food, they won me and my party of 3 over. Had friends over to the new apt and we wanted a nice afternoon lunch (nothing fancy, but good). Found Tumble22 searching the Internet, everyone said let's try it and off we went. We arrived at this location, was greeted and sat immediately. Place was not super busy but was not empty either. Our Waitress Maria was the best. So engaging and walked us through the menu and and gave us her favorites. She made our lunch here so much fun and set the tone for our wonderful lunch. She is a blueprint on what waiters and waitresses should be. We enjoyed everything we ordered. From the Mac and Cheese, beans, coleslaw,greens,and French fries. You must try the Szechuan fries. I did not think I was going to be impressed by them. But the flavor profile will blow you away. Let's say the szechuan mustard sauce has a surprising kick and flavor that we love. The wasabi and cilantro flavors hit you in all the right places. I would have these ever time I come here. The Heavenly Eggs are so good too. The sandwiches are very good to. The buns are nice and soft and the chicken has 6 different heat levels to choose from starting with painless all the way up to stupid hot. I chose #4 (damn hot) which was a nice enjoyable heat that did not take me away from me enjoying my food. I had The Southern (very good), the one recommended by Maria was the Tupelo Hot Honey (amazingly good). So many flavors popping in the Tupelo, it does not disappoint. The Korean Style O.G. was another good one. The blood orange margaritas are so good. It's a well balanced frozen margarita and strong to. Don't leave without having dessert either. The Pecan Chocolate Toffee pie is a winner. The buttermilk pie is good too but have it at room temperature, I don't recommend it cold. I will definitely be back and thank you Maria for making our Saturday outing even more pleasant and enjoyable.

One of the Art District neighborhood go to spots. This joint ebbs and flows in terms of patrons, but the food always delivers! Food & Drink - 5* The central theme here is chicken of different variety at whatever spice level one can tolerate (no pain, hot, mo hot, dang hot, cluckin' hot, stupid hot). And let me tell ya, I love spicy and.this place can bring it. I made the mistake of stupid hot once, I don't think I'll ever do that again. Whether it's sandwiches, salads, tenders, bites, bone-in - dark, white, mixed they can make it as mild or spicy as you want it. The dirty fries can practically fill one up if alone! They do have a simple cocktail and a full bar to go along with your meal. Service - 3* This is the primary pain point when visiting. I've had instances where the service was fantastic and the server very attentive, other times it's just painfully slow. Order takes forever to be placed, the food is a crawl at coming out, or even getting the bill slow. It just varies widely in my experience so YMMV. Cost - 5* The value is there! The drinks are reasonable and the food is well-proportioned to pricing. I know it's always subjective but I think they definitely know how to keep one coming back with not just quality meals but reasonable pricing. Overall - 4* The only reason I'm putting this one at a 4* is because it just isn't consistent with service. If they could get that worked out the place would easily be a 5* in my view. I recommend anyone stop in and give this a try, but maybe do it when you aren't in a hurry or there are less folks visiting?

Tumble 22 has really good food... Almost perfect. Since it was my first time to attend, my buddy Vik and I were offered a sampling of the sides and a few pieces of chicken to sample the spice levels. That was quite nice and I thought I would get a level spicier than the dang hot. Vik had the Tupelo honey chicken sandwich and I had the quarter chicken Korean style hot. I also ordered the broccoli salad and collard greens sides. The sides were very good. The chicken was also tasty. I was a bit disappointed with the heat level, as it felt less spicier than dang hot. Also, the sauce on my chicken made the normal Korean crispness a bit soggy. Our server was also the bartender and was very helpful with suggestions. We will return, as it is just a short drive from downtown. Prices not bad, in the $10-15 range.
