What took me so long to check out Two Headed Dog? I passed by it many o'times riding the bike... glad we finally checked it out for a friends bday. It's a solid dive bar with quality craft cocktails AND great service. Great tunes (a DJ showed up on Friday night), a patio, some late night snacks for the munchies... the crowd and vibes kinda reminded me of old Montrose... maybe Poison Girl circa 2008. The restrooms needed some serious tending too. Not a fun moment.

A dive bar...that serves craft cocktails...in Midtown. If that seems peculiar to you, you're not the only one. Two Headed Dog is very unassuming. You can easily drive by it and miss it. Parking is street only. The block we parked on was free after 6 pm, but read the signs as it varies in Midtown. My friend and I stopped in for a drink after dinner on a Monday night. It wasn't super busy, but there were more people than I was expecting given that it was a Monday. I didn't get the bartender's name, but she was cool. She gave us menus (I loved the cover of the menu - "This Is Our Menu") and answered questions we had about the cocktails. I noticed that they have a Pornstar Martini. I had this drink for the first time in Amsterdam a few months back and was blown away with it because it consisted of the martini, a small glass of Prosecco, and a piece of passionfruit. TDH's version didn't come with passionfruit, but it did come with the small glass of Prosecco. I told the bartender that I had to ask for instructions on how to drink it in Amsterdam because I wasn't prepared for the accompaniments and her response was "booze your own adventure!" LOL. My kind of gal! The drink was good, though I thought the Prosecco was a little flat. Since this is a dive bar, I won't deduct any stars for the lack of passionfruit lol. I can't recall the cocktail that my friend had, but he enjoyed his. The indoor area was small, but they had a nice patio area out front. They were playing an awesome rotation of indie alternative music from the 2000s/2010s which is right up my alley. I don't frequent Midtown often, but I would definitely come back if in the area.

It's a dive bar, and I really don't do dive bars (full stop) -- but I try to keep an open mind and Two Headed Dog is crafty and clean enough for me to like it! (if that makes any sense at all... lol) The hubs and I decided to be mavericks and step out of our usual & try a new spot for a nightcap. We searched craft cocktails, and the Yelpers + the five star rating led us here. I trust my fellow Yelpers, and I'm happy to report that I wasn't disappointed. Bar service only, the cocktails are tasty, it's dark and tucked away, the music is a vibe, prices are amazing, the aesthetic is quite eclectic, and the restroom was clean. THD clearly has a following as people were continuously streaming in, and after our first visit, the hubs and I agreed that we'd be down to return with company. As one who's admittedly obsessed with a good photo-op, I was soooo tempted to try out the old school photo booth, but I couldn't go all the way without Lysol wipes. #babysteps Overall, I tried a new scene tonight and I liked it!

This is our go to spot after a dinner from a sushi place - Kanau just a couple blocks over. First, you can find free street parking. I think the drinks are creative and yummy. The bartenders are nice and the vibes is great. The place is clean and nice as well. Will be definitely be coming back!

Two Headed Dog is one of my favorite dive bars in town. If you aren't looking for it, you would never even know there's a bar there as it is behind a wooden fence. We came to have a few cocktails before dinner on a weekday and there was a decent sized crowd. The weather was nice so we took advantage of the nice outdoor space. Inside it's small but there is a little bit of seating. The staff was friendly and steered us in the right directions as far as what we like. We started off with a few of their cocktails. She got the Plant Creep and I got the Last Rites. Their menu might not be as extensive as some of the higher end cocktail bars, but they definitely put out great drinks. Both of the drinks were delicious and even nice to look at. I kept seeing people with a frozen green drink and I had to get one for myself. It was the Late Nite Pie Daiquiri and it was so dang good. It was like drinking a key lime pie. Dessert in drink form, yes please! Can't wait to get back here and try some of their other creations!

There's a reason this place has a five star rating - hidden gem! Two Headed Dog is what I would call an "upscale dive bar" tucked off of Elgin Street. Don't let the unassuming entrance fool you, great cocktails, a diverse liquor selection, and talented bartenders await inside. The drinks on their menu are unique and reasonably priced. I was craving an espresso martini which is not on their regular menu, however the bartender was able to craft something similar which was excellent. Great spot to take a casual date or a few friends. One warning - parking is very limited nearby so best to walk, uber, or utilize the metro rail nearby.
