Very nice to see a small black owned wine business. She is a one woman show so a bit of a wait but we had a great time

It was my first time visiting with some girlfriends on a Saturday night at 7:30 pm. The area was pretty busy with many other businesses. Parking was very limited so we parked on the street. The moment you enter, the owner makes you sanitize your hands and she never missed anyone who came. The sitting area downstairs is small and casual. There is an upstairs sitting area too. The owner was helpful in providing information about wine and mimosa options. We decided to start off with the quesadilla, which was really good so we ordered a second order. My friends enjoyed their drinks which included a red wine and lavender mimosa. It didn't feel overly crowded which was nice to actually relax from a long week and catch up with friends.

UnWine was such a wonderful place to kick off your evening or weekend. The owner, Shearone, was very welcoming and gave great suggestions on wine and bites for us to eat! Me and my daughter celebrated our birthday at UnWine. Beautiful atmosphere and amazing food. We had the rooftop view, private DJ, and champagne to celebrate a wonderful birthday with family and friends.

Such a cute little hidden jewel! The owner and proprietor is absolutely amazing and so knowledgeable about different wines. I was invited here on a date and I'm obsessed with this place. I was privy to trying the house sangria which has hints of hazelnut and Cocoa. For a sexy vibe and amazing playlist you have to try this grown and sexy establishment!

I came with a group on a Wednesday night. They had live music on the rooftop and we were told it usually cost $20 to go up but we were given a special of $10. Majority of people in the group chose not to go the the roof due to the cover. I peaked upstairs at the end of the night and it is a cute spot. There were several employees taking orders and bringing our drinks out. They were really sweet and I appreciated the service. However, only the lady I assume was the owner could actually pour our drinks and check us out. This meant that it took a long time to get drinks and check out. I'm not sure why the other employees weren't trained and/or trusted to do something simple like check us out. It led to a lot of confusion and the owner kept getting side tracked when her familiar customers came it. It honestly felt like we were put on the back burner. With improvements such as more people able to check customers out and pour wine, I'm sure UnWine could go up in stars! The potential is definitely there.

I was so excited for this place only to be disappointed in my first visit. This place was EMPTY, and after my visit I can understand why. The owner is arrogant and speaks in a condescending tone to guests She lost our business just based off her delivery in her spiel to us, didn't mention anything about wine, we weren't offered a menu, but she mentioned a dress code several times (that won't be enforced until the colder months, then why are you mentioning it more than once?) also mentioned that this business is a setting for professional working people (we have our own business, little did she know) gave very business cover front for "side gigs". Check all the negative reviews, this lady obviously has a certain type of "clientele" We left after not feeling welcomed. We were looking for a place to relax, enjoy some wine and lite bites.. it was not here, but we ended up taking our business to Phoenicia down the street and had a much better evening there.

I just want to say I had an excellent time here last night with friends. I'm so happy we found this gem of a wine bar! The location is on Almeda, on the quite part closer to downtown. It's a two story venue, I would have loved to sit upstairs in the outdoor seating area but it was rainy. I'll have to sit up there next time. It is very clean, homey and a quaint feel with much original artwork to gaze at and admire. The wine selection is good and the owner is very knowledgeable and approachable. I'm not giving her enough credit... the owner is AWESOME! She was so attentive and friendly, and even covered my friends portion of the meal after giving her marriage advice (she had just got engaged) and making her ready eyed. She also comp'ed one of our dishes because it wasn't what we asked for, even though we didn't mind because it was delicious and we cleared the plate! That brings me to the food! Wow. I was impressed. I'm a vegetarian and usually I don't get it my way when I eat out, but the pizza was soooo green and fresh! I got the best of both worlds and didn't leave feeling guilty. The food was clean, and refreshingly light but filling. I could tell she was really taking her time to prepare every dish with her heart. I really love places like this when I find them. Gives you a true experience of special dining. You feel like family - not like you are on an assembly line or like your table is a number and there is a time limit stamped on your presence. Places like this make you feel welcomed. I will definitely be back and that is a promise! I'm putting this one in my arsenal

Disappointed that no bottled water was sold and the owner didn't want me to have my own according to a rule that no other establishments worry about excessively or at all and with the loose regulations on Houston public bathrooms cleanliness and road quality, I'm sure nobody is checking for. I agree that she accosted me about it also, like another review stated happened to them! So me and my friend left. She should have something better to do than worry about something so trivial and accuse a customer of maybe bringing in liquor in a water bottle, they don't need your place to do that and most wouldn't do that so obviously if it was their own alcohol. Smh! That's rude to do! It's also low class & unhealthy to expect filtered water to be drunk. Hopefully that changes! There should really be multiple bottled water choices in these establishments. That's scary because, while you believe you're drinking water that's been rid of harmful contaminants, you might be getting them in a more concentrated form. For example, if you're hosting many people at your home for a Thanksgiving dinner, you'll likely be using more tap water than usual. Given the natural ebb and flow of contaminants through tap water, this can overwhelm your filter, causing it to tap out earlier than you expected. Not to mention, exhausted filters shouldn't be thrown away with regular garbage. Substances that are removed during the purification process include: parasites, bacteria, algae, viruses, fungi, toxic metals (such as lead and copper), trace pharmaceuticals and more. Water purification not only removes these harmful substances, but often removes substances that are safe to ingest, but that negatively affect the smell, taste and/or appearance of water. And, with purified water, you don't have to rely on a filter every time you get a drink since the water's already been purified. That's how it'll remain.
