Don't get the brisket nacho. I thought u would get decent amount of protein and carbs with this side/meal. I barely got any protein which was disappointing. Service was standard, can't go wrong unless u get a cashier who's in a bad mood which I think is rarely the case here . I'm just disappointed in the amount of protein. I'd rather just get a taco.

Stopped by late Sunday afternoon because of their catchy Margarita sign outside and Lidia was kind enough to hook me up with a refreshing swirl sangria margarita drink! My husband had the traditional margarita. It was so refreshing on a hot Sunday afternoon! This was our second stop after lunch, I can honestly say it's nice seeing the staff enjoying each other's company and having fun where they work. It makes for a more enjoyable environment while providing excellent service!!

Had a friend rave about this place so I had to check it out when I was in Houston! Got some tacos to go to eat at the hotel, so can't comment on service or ambiance. - Spicy Tikka Chicken: 10/10 (yummmyy! It's definitely not your traditional taco though... but the flavors work together really well) - Kobe Smash Burger: 8/10 (I wasn't expecting it to come in a lettuce wrap-- my bad for not checking-- but it tasted like a mini burger) - Elote: 100/10 (ok this might be my fav thing we ordered!!!! Didn't know what to expect because I've never had elote before, but the creaminess and corn bites = chefs kiss)

I had a dream about Velvet Taco the other day. Not sure how it ended or started. I have seen the sign from mile away, every time I make a left turn from Montrose Collective onto Westheimer. This time, I came with my friends for late night bites. I drove up to the parking lot and there was a very undesirable aroma blew into my car window. I first thought was the fume from the traffic. After I parked my car, I determined it came from the construction. Whatever they were doing, please hurry up. I like the interior layout. The order counter is in the middle as people line up on the opposite of the entrance. Restrooms are tucked away but entrance is across from the cashier. Seating area takes majority half of the footprint. A giant menu on the wall before the cashier. I couldn't believe there were so many different styles of tacos. I was only interested in fish taco and exotic tacos. I saw Spicy Tikka Chicken Taco was exciting. I also got a Grilled Salmon Taco, which was delicious. However, I would not order the Spicy Tikka Chicken taco again. Because it has a huge amount of rice on the bottom. Flavors were ok. Thanks to the cashier's recommendation on the spiciness level.

I can't believe I'm saying this but the Kobe beef taco was pretty darn good. I've never had a hamburger taco with pickles but it did not disappoint. The folks were friendly and service was faster than imagined since the line was long and the restaurant was busy with customers waiting. There is a nice selection of menu options to choose from and the ambiance is pretty chill. There's a bar where you can order, sit at and have brewski or whatever your choice of booze is. It's a great place to wait and dine at while waiting for your flight.

I love velvet taco because of all the different varieties and creative tacos they have, and this time, they had a really good combo deal. I got the $14.95 taco combo where you get to pick a taco and you get another one for free along with a side and a drink. We chose the birria taco duo which comes with 2 tacos normally, so we were able to get 4 birria tacos, elote for the side, and a fountain drink all for $15, which was so worth it. The tacos were delicious, and I would definitely come back again for this deal. The service was fast, and I like that they have a lot of different seating options from the low benches to the high tables to the high tables against the windows.

I've always assumed that Americanized tacos could never live up to the tastiness of authentic Mexican tacos, but you know... there are some scenarios where it would be like comparing apples to oranges. Specifically, whenever it's a niche taco flavor such as spicy tikka or fried chicken which is what I ordered (the middle two tacos in the picture are my friend's, which I don't remember the names of). I have to give credit to Velvet Taco for coming up with some unique options. Spicy tikka - thoroughly enjoyed this one. You get the hard hitting flavor that you'd expect out of a taco, but in an unconventional way. Never thought I'd want white rice on a taco, but the sauces made it work. Fried chicken - also super tasty. Chicken was still crispy and hot when served. Adding the bacon bits made me feel like I was eating something deluxe. There is upper level outside seating but the wall-mounted fans don't make the area cool enough in the summer time. I personally prefer inside seating on the ground level most of the time. Staff was willing to make some conversation on the side. Solid place to check out on Westheimer!
