I have been working here for 8 month. They just open three month after I work for deerwood. My strong suggestion is check it out. They have been remodeled after hurricane Harvey. Everything have been change including the menu as well.

If you are used to some of the finer golf courses in the Houston area, this might not be your ideal place to play a round. That being said, the value cannot be matched - even from most municipal courses. A round plus cart is only going to cost you around $30 and that price is even lower on the week days and in the afternoon. One of the other pluses is that you will have no problem booking a tee time basically whenever you desire. Typically, there are only a handful of golfers at the course even on a Saturday. The negatives are that this is a very no frills golf course. Many times there are large patches of dirt in the fairways and when you do find grass - it is essentially of the quality you would find in your back yard. The greens are particularly slow. I'm not sure what type of grass they use, but it might just be the same used in the fairway cut shorter - very strange. I know that they have been restricted on the amount of water they used due to the drought conditions. That could be a contributing factor. Even with these negatives, I do like coming out here regularly. I can afford to play this course frequently and you will rarely have a group behind you "breathing down your neck" because the tee times are so close together.

It is a very sad dismal place. The staff has no budget to work with because the manager/owner puts all available cash to work at Oakhurst. The traps are pure mud or pure concrete= pure hell. The greens are off and on at best. However, a bigger consideration is the fact that the property is flat overgrown. The tee box at #11, the tee box at #17 and the fairway on #18 obstruct reasonable shots from the average golfer. Finally, there is no marshaling at all which translates into people playing from the wrong tee boxes, people giving small children lessons in the fairway on a Saturday, old men spending 20 minutes looking for extra balls in the water, fivesomes hitting extra shots or betting on every hole, obnoxious yelling when some minor success is achieved.....you get the picture. Oh, I forgot. They have range balls that are so old and cruddy and stained that it appears they have been swirled in turpentine. Other than that it is a great place to congregate with your trailer trash friends.

You can't beat the value for the $ you get here. The course is in great shape with greens that roll true and consistent.....the course is fun to play as the holes are well designed and provide enough challenge. I would say this is one of the best kept golf secrets in the Houston area.
