I'm giving 5 stars to try and move the average. The course is a solid 4 stars for the price-4-play, but doesn't deserve 3 stars. In the last two years this course has drastically improved. Albeit, some of the fairways are a little bumpy, and you'll find a dead patch here and there but it's a public course. Overall the greens are smooth and the fairways are well maintained. Ever played Willie's course in Perdenales? If you have, you'll know what playing in the rough is. Southwyck is a good course with challenging holes. Plenty of obstacles and fun to have along the way... plus if you buy a round before noon you get two free drinks (beer, soda, tea) and hot plate. Talk about a bargain.

This place is more of a disaster than Chernobyl. I got cart sick from driving on the fairways. It's bumpier than an alligator's back. The greens are as choppy as a child's storytelling skills and the bunkers have as much sand as a forest floor. 10/10 don't recommend unless it's your first time golfing.

started play this morning 6/29/25. Fairways are terrible. Tall grass bumpy like a plowed cow pasture. After 4 holes, I requested a refund of my money due to terrible course conditions.

Hadn't been here in a while and decided to play, give it another chance. yeah - it was just as bad as the last time. No improvement to this place at all since the last time. The greens are all trashed, with sand, weeds, and no defined cut between the green and the first cut. The fairways are also VERY ROUGH, with our clubs bouncing around all over the place. NO MARSHALL on the course, so expect traffic at some holes with up to 20 minute delays. Just terrible. The good thing about this course is the staff were friendly and helpful. 20 years back, this WAS the course to play. WON'T be coming back, too many better options for a few more bucks.

Worst golf course in the state of Texas! The fairways are equivalent to an uncut cow pasture. Impossible to putt a ball straight on the horrific greens and will take you 20mins+ to find your ball after landing it in the middle of the fairway due to the grass being extremely high with weeds everywhere. Sand bunkers do not even have sand.

The course has some real problems, but I can tell they are trying to work on it because the club is part of a larger set of 20 that is up for sale. I'd give it 2 out of 5 stars. The golf cart was filthy (0 stars) and there were no bathrooms throughout the course, except in the clubhouse. In my book, this makes this a very sexist course, because no women will want to play it and it becomes a men's club only. (They can go pee on a bush, in the woods, or among the Pampas grass anytime, ladies can't do that.) When I brought this to their attention, the girl at the counter said "oh yeah, I know, people complain about that all the time!". Then why haven't you done some thing about it? I'll never play here again.

It's in horrible shape. All of the bunkers have been filled in with grass. The fairways are extremely rough and it is very uncomfortable driving on them with the cart. Go somewhere else where they take care of the course.

Fun and challenging course. Unique course design with few flat lies. Most shots are from an uneven lie, even in the fairway, by design. Uphill, downhill, side hill. Definitely adds challenge not often seen in the Houston area. Greens are in good shape. Fairways are also quite healthy. Overall, I was very happy paying twilight rates for a fun round of golf. I was glad the wind was not strong as it would really add challenge to this course. I would gladly play this course again.
