I believe this is a new spot in the area. Stopped here while on my lunch break. The service was quick & friendly. The green salsa was packed with flavor and a nice kick of spice. The red salsa was good as well if you're not a spicy food person. The camarones were amazing! Initially I thought I would not finish it but it was so tasty! The rice was moist and not dry at all. The French fries were nice & crispy. 10/10 would recommend!

We decided to try the latest Tex-Mex place in our neighborhood. Viva Jalisco has moved in where most recently Sona Glocal Cuisine was located, next to Sprouts grocery store. We got the enchiladas Suiza and the carnitas, and followed with sopapillas for dessert. Service was OK but there were several small issues that took away from the experience a bit. When we ordered drinks, we ordered an iced tea and an Arnold Palmer--half tea, half lemonade. I usually explain that to the server and she repeated it back to me. She then said "OK, two tea". And that's what we got. When my wife ordered the enchiladas she asked for charro beans instead of refried. She got both, and we got charged extra for the charros. So a rough start. We started off with chips and salsa. The salsas had a different, less complex flavor than we're used to. The green salsa was the one with the kick. The chips were heated so they were nice and crisp. The enchiladas were OK. The green sauce was on the thin side and formed a pool that surrounded the rest of the food on the plate. But they ate fine. The charro beans were very much a bean soup, but quite a good bean soup, perhaps the best item of the evening. On the menu the carnitas say it is deep fried pork. Our pork was not deep fried, it was a smoked pork shoulder. Not a huge thing, I like them either way. The tender bits were quite delicious but about half of it was tough and dry. The tortillas that came with it had been warmed up a bit too much, they were also on the dry and chewy side. The rice and beans were fine. The sopapillas have lots of sugar on them and are drizzled with chocolate sauce. We also got honey, not quite sure why. The sopapillas were pale, done just enough not to be raw. But they were good with the chocolate sauce and sugar and we ate most of them. The interior walls are painted an appetizing yellow, no decoration except over the bar. And there's a world map left over from Sona Glocal in the hall to the bathrooms, which were clean and ready. The furniture is quite impressive. The wood tables are polished to a high shine. The chairs and booths are also polished wood and are very comfortable. Every piece of furniture has a router depiction of the restaurant logo, and the booths have different Mexican icons and scenes. They spent serious money on that furniture. The restaurant has a large menu of all the usual Tex-Mex favorites for breakfast as well as lunch and dinner. I don't think this would displace any of our regular Tex-Mex places. Might be worth a visit to see that furniture, then you can decide if you like the food enough to come back.

Simple, fresh and delicious. We came on a Friday night and there were only 3 other tables dining. The prices were great -$14.99 for the fajitas special.

There's a new restaurant where Vero Italian (god rest its soul) used to be on the southeast corner of Kuykendahl & 2920 called Viva Jalisco #5. This is apparently their fifth restaurant judging by the name, so they must be doing something right. Since they recently opened, they aren't very busy right now so I was seated immediately and had a very attentive server. The complementary chips and salsa was good: they served a red and a green. The green salsa was the puréed pepper style (not avocado based) and had some heat to it and very good taste. I really liked the red salsa - there's a flavor in there that I can't place but I really enjoyed. They have daily specials, but I went ahead and ordered off the menu: I got an enchilada plate with rice and beans. I got the "Enchiladas al Carbón" which were covered in queso, and had sliced steak inside (if you have ever had "tacos al carbón," then you already know what I'm talking about). The meat was well-seasoned, and I liked the queso, even if it was a little runny. The refried beans were good, but didn't stand out - the same could be said about their rice. The price was fairly reasonable: that meal with a drink was $17, which I would say is the going rate for something like that in these parts. I will definitely be back to try a little bit more of their menu, and I would recommend that you all try it out!

We've been here several times because it's close to our neighborhood. I love that it's tucked away and quiet. The service is always friendly especially when we have our two young children with us. We've had the fajitas, cocktail de camarón y mixto, nachos, breakfast tacos and pancakes which my kids always order and share. Everything has been tasty, filling and a reasonably priced. We eat there at least twice a month.

First and foremost, this is not no mi rancho, mama Juanita's or gringos. It's way better. We have been here twice and don't plan on stopping. We're so glad something a little closer to mom and grandmas style/quality of cooking finally opened up in the area. I really hope this place gets more foot traffic because it's really good food and we need quality in our area. Service was excellent both times and so was the food and prices! Please go check it out.
