Packed! Came to Sugarland just to experience Seafood City on a long weekend and most Filipinos drove from different cities to experience a piece of home. So worth it. The night we came we ordered chicharon bulaklak, Laing, bopis, squid, grilled fish and our tummy was happy. The next day we ordered take out of grilled fish, halo halo ($10 for two!). The line was long all the way to the entrance of the seafood city for more than two hours. But everybody was polite and enjoying the karaoke going on promoting a concert in October for Gary V. Must come!!!

3.5 stars Decent sized portions, food was alright. I got the pork adobo and pork bbq skewer for $13 - nothing stood out. Between the long lines and mediocre food, I don't know if I'd come back.

I was headed towards Baso but saw this long line and jumped in it impulsively. I got the pork adobo with rice/pancit and 1 pork adobo skewers for $12 and 6" Turon for $2. The pork adobo portion was a bit small but decent The skewer was overwhelmed by the sauce that was too sweet for my liking. The Turon was decent! Overall, like other reviews say, very much food court food that is not worth the wait.

This is tucked inside Seafood City supermarket where all the Filipino goods are at! Parking isn't a problem and there are plenty of dining tables inside. The Grill City line is usually quite long whether you're there for lunch or dinner. They serve Filipino breakfast (longanisa, garlic rice, etc) as well as desserts/sweet treats like buko pandan, ube champorado, and more. The staff are usually okay fast in assisting every customer in line where you can pick out all the foods you desire from their heated trays. As soon as an item is almost gone, they call into the kitchen for them to make more as replenishment. I could see why the lines grow longer than one would prefer...because many customers do not know what they actually want and can't decide on the spot vs there are too many customers and only 1 or 2 staff members assigned. I've also experienced having only one register open at the end where they account for all you've ordered and pay, which leads to longer lines as well. The same staff member at the register also goes back and forth to grab items if the customer trying to pay wants to add an additional item to their meal. The food is pretty good for fast food/fast casual Filipino cuisine. There are many signs overhead indicating sizes and pricing too, though it can get confusing for those who aren't familiar with Filipino food or the language, as most menu items don't have further notes on them besides their name. What some folks don't know is that you can actually goto their seafood department and ask the staff to clean and fry some fish to crispy or extra crispy so you can take it to go for later or eat it right away in the food court area. This way, you have to pay at the Grill City counter or at their regular supermarket check out registers before digging in. The fish has been fresh everytime I've had it and they are nice enough to give me a few dipping sauces at Grill City to make the meal even better. A few times the fish is overfried and hard to chew, but I still get it in hopes it isn't. Overall I recommend their grilled pork skewers, palabok, pancit, laing, pompano, tilapia, sinigang, footlong turon, and adobo. I have a lot more to try but so far these have been hits. Portions have been consistent. Pricing also has increased a tad since opening, but still reasonable for most items. Its a solid 3 star rating for me with room to improve with both wait time/line efficiency and flavor of food.

I was skeptical about Grill City because it was hard to find. It's on the map. But being inside of Seafood City Supermarket, they need signs outside of this building. The place is so popular on social media. Even my friend who has never had Filipino food wanted to try it. He said, just grab a plate and go to the serving line. Ok. The "just" was an overstatement. I came here during a weekend day and the line was wrapped around the food court to the supermarket entrance. The menu is so far away and small. When I saw that, it immediately turned me off. This restaurant has been open for almost a year. If they haven't worked the kinks by now, there is something wrong with it. I actually ate here once. We came here during the Wednesday commute hour. There were a few people eating and no line. We took our time talking to the employees about the dishes. I am only familiar with few Filipino dishes without help of Google Translate or friends helping. I ordered Pancit Palabok ($5.99) and Pork Adobo (This was my final month consuming pork). He got 2 Grilled Squids and a pound of Salt & Pepper Shrimps. Well, he had better foodie adventure than me. Food was fresh and tasty. Again, I am not familiar with Filipino food. I can't compare with others. It's just a hot deli within a chained supermarket.

This place is nested within the infamous Seafood City Supermarket. The line was long but as you wait you can watch the grill man cook the meats. Ordering can be a bit confusing as the staff take orders and box up food for you. Not the most pleasant service experience but they do the job. You'll pay for your food at the cashier towards the end of the line where you can also select drinks and desserts. For the price and the taste of the food, it's decent. They do a really good job with the barbecue and the sauce that it accompanies.

I showed up after peak lunch time on a Saturday. It was very crowded, but finding a seat wasn't difficult. It only took about 5 minutes to move through the line, and the workers were very patient. I ordered the grilled squid with a side of white rice and pancit, as well as buko pandan and soursop juice. For the grilled squid, the meat was a little tough to chew, but the inside had really chewy vegetables that offset the texture a little. Still, I would not get the squid again because it does not suit my personal taste. The pancit was shockingly chewy, and it glided through my mouth. It tasted more savory than anything, but the soft and light texture was noteworthy. The rice was soft and sticky but lacked flavor since it is white rice. It also didn't go too well with the squid in my opinion. The juice was canned, and it was light in flavor and smooth to drink. The buko pandan wasn't too sweet, but it still had a solid flavor. I really liked the cream in it, and the jellies were squishy for the most part. They fell apart as soon as you applied any pressure to them. The cubes were too hard, though, so I had to avoid them. Overall, I think the most of the food I ordered had great taste and texture. And, it does not take too long to order if you come at a good time. This is a great place to dine, especially if you are seeking to expand your palette.

Went to visit this place and the line was so long. Not only did we have to sign up so we can be in the queue. After 30mins we got a text and stand in queue. It was a busy day for grill city and we enjoyed our time standing and watching them grilling those bbq. The food tasted good and we will definitely be back.

As a Filipina I'm happy to see more Filipino restaurants popping up in the Greater Houston area. Grill City is located inside Seafood City supermarket and operates like a food court kiosk. It's been open for a few months now and the lines are still long especially during peak hours so expect to wait. My friend and I came Sunday afternoon and waited in line for about 30 minutes. One thing I will say is that the prices for their combos are reasonable considering they don't skimp on their portions at all. We each ordered the 2 item value meal which gets you a main entree, white rice, and a "side" which is a small portion of their other dishes. Some of the more specialty items have an additional upcharge but still reasonable again because of the portion. I ordered the 2 item plate with pork bbq and kare kare. This was my first time dining here so I wanted to try other items and ordered them a la carte. I ordered their grilled tilapia and the lumpiang Shanghai. I also ordered calamansi juice for my drink. The pork bbq was delicious! It's already marinated when it's grilled but they dip it in the sauce again before serving it for added flavor. I'd give the kare kare a 3.5/5 but I'm biased because I don't think anyone can top my mom's version. I'm also not a fan of tripe in my kare kare. The tilapia was good on its own but I like dipping it in a soy sauce and vinegar mixture. Make sure to ask for sauces at the end! I'd give the lumpia a 4/5. It's hard to really mess up lumpia but I think the pork mixture needed just a bit more seasoning. My friend ordered the grilled pompano, palabok, and laing. I sampled the palabok and laing and they were both pretty good though I think the laing needed more spice to represent the true laing from Bohol. I definitely ordered way too much food and had to take most of it home but that's why I think what you get is worth what you pay for. Next time I come here with a bigger party I'll definitely order the party pack because it seems like an even better deal. I'll also have to try the desserts too since I didn't have room in my stomach this time around.
