This hotel is utterly amazing. It was the most romantic sweet getaway we've experienced. The room decor is spot on, the tubs in the rooms are generous size - hot water - clean. Enough room for two to soak. The food in the restaurant is really great. Only about a 35 min ride from downtown woodstock. The overnight coffee thermoses were so so cute. we loved our entire weekend. Queer Friendly (even with us being the only queer couple there during the weekend we visited.)

Truly a majestic place. I wish I found it sooner! Would definitely love to go back. We stayed in the Chalet lodge on the property which is perfect for a family traveling. The living room had a fireplace and a pullout queen sofa bed, so comfortable and beautifully decorated. We loved the soaking tub in the back which was private and had the most amazing view into the woods. The kitchen was also perfect and we felt great cooking in it and drinking coffee. The view on the property is spectacular. My kids loved seeing the groundhogs, wild turkeys, deer and a bald eagle soaring above us as we played volleyball on the lawn. The staff is amazing and the lodge itself is fantastic. Dinner and cocktails were delicious. And the breakfast buffet albeit small was delicious and served great coffee. We took advantage of the swimming hole near the entrance and while the water was cold the sun during midday made it awesome and exhilarating so take advantage.

thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and plan to be back! detailed notes below

pros:
• lots available on site! the lodge is fairly remote but they keep you busy - sauna, cinema room, pool table, board games, fire pits, snow equipment, local hikes, live music at night, late night bar, etc.
• good opportunities for mingling if that's your sort of thing
• staff was attentive and friendly!
• rooms were very clean despite us visiting during busy season

cons:
• rooms are very dark. the idea of "mood lighting" is nice until you need to see in the room when the sun has gone down
• walls and ceilings are very thin if you're on the 1st floor. luckily, it wasn't too disruptive but we could hear doors slamming, sex noises, dogs barking, etc. at any given point in our room. offering white noise machines in the room would be a nice touch
• the breakfast was pretty sad for $15 each (i would skip) and there's no on-site lunch options

Urban Cowboy is an oasis away from the city, an absolutely beautiful grounds and they did an incredible job cultivating a chic environment. However, all the reviews I had read were about the helpful staff. We did not have this experience. The staff is uninterested in going out of their way to help you with anything, they don't even have phones in the room to reach the front desk, they give you a phone number to text for any requests you may have. However, the response time on that phone number is slow and they never accomplished any of my requests (cleaning the room, ordering coffee for the morning, etc).

The only (free) amenity they have is the sauna, you have to reserve this for 30 minutes at a time, and when we arrived the sauna was off (took 25 minutes to warm up) and there was no water in the bucket to create steam. Of course, we could not text the number for help, since there was no service and the wifi doesn't extend that far.

In my opinion, this is an overpriced Airbnb that you have to share with strangers. If I wanted a place where there was no service, no cleaning, no (included) amenities, I would spend half the money and stay at a local Airbnb.

PS - Check your bill, they tried to charge us for items in the room that we did not use.

We had a blast. Staff couldn’t have been friendly or more accommodating. The property is beautiful. The rooms and decor are awesome. Loved the cold plunge and sauna. Food and drinks were great. Can’t wait to go back :)
