If you are skiing in Stowe you have to stop at least once and take in all that the Matterhorn has to offer. The atmosphere is exactly what you would expect stepping into a après ski bar/restaurant. The decor is rustic, the views from the porch are magical, and the staff is kind, funny, and very attentive. The pizza, sushi, and drinks hit the spot and as crazy as the menu seems (pizza and sushi) it ensures that there is truly something for everything. Reservations didn’t seem to be needed on a weeknight but we made them anyway, we also went on a Saturday and were glad we had them. It is a great mix of locals and tourist and a very diverse crowd that got along in a way that only Vermonters could.

After a day walking around Stowe, we drove by Matterhorn and decided to stop for lunch. Best decision ever! Nicolas was our server and all of his recommendations were on point. The pizza was fantastic, and so were the burgers. Over the holidays when restaurants are usually so busy, there was barely a wait for the food and everything was tasty. We were a large party and felt well attended to. We have recommended it to everyone we run into, and hope to visit again.

Good food, not a great place for families. The service was top notch! Everyone was very friendly and helpful. My wife loved the lobster salad (the dressing really made it), and they have the biggest wood oven pizza I’ve ever seen. Plus, they cut a single slice into two so your kids feel like they’re getting extra. The only downside was the pinup girls in the men’s restroom. They were about as nude as you can get while still keeping the most… um… interesting parts… cleverly covered. It was pretty awkward going in there with my 8 year-old son to wash up. Otherwise, a great place, but maybe just for adults.

The Matterhorn I feel tries to be too "high brow" for what it is. The food seems good but is held back by adding just one too many things onto something that already is great.

I had 3 items:

Appetizers-
Red Hot Dumplings
They boast coming in a sweet chili sauce and soy sauce glaze but overall the combination doesn't work and you end up with just a very runny sauce that is less "Red Hot" and more mild than anything. It also masked the flavor of the pork far too much.

Entree-
Lamb Burger with Truffle Fries
The Truffle Fries ended up being very disappointing and I wish I hadn't upgraded to them. The burger was recommended to be cooked medium rare which I went with but I honestly believe it was cooked far more rare than that.

Dessert-
Pannacotta
Probably the highlight of the meal but still fairly disappointing. The offer a bit of syrup or perhaps it's a preserve on top, but once it's gone you're left with only the extremely light vanilla flavor.

I'll likely try The Matterhorn again as I truly do like their interior but I hope the food is better the next visit.

Was in town for the weekend so was looking for a place to get dinner. Saw some photos of pizza on google maps so decided to head down the notch and check this place out. Immediately greeted by Ross at the bar and I knew exactly what I wanted, a Hawaiian pizza. This pizza will be a quality I will have a hard time trying to find again. Hot perfect char on the crust and everything tasting super fresh. I wish I was able to stay a bit longer the bar was huge and seemed like a great place to hang out for a few beers, Ross again was phenomenal and super friendly. If I am ever back up this way I will be stopping in for more pizza.
