I picked Anchorage Inn based off the reviews and it seeming like a safe property for a solo traveler. Check-in was fast. It was nice having the room prepaid for but I think it was more that it would be harder to get any refunds this way. The room was large but it was very worn down. The AC didn't work. The bathroom was dirty and small. There were stains on the wall. The tub wasn't dirty per sei but it felt dirty. The bed was hard when I first sat on it but was surprisingly comfortable to sleep on at night. There weren't many amenities but there was shampoo and a bar of soap. There was only one washcloth. There could have been more. The door didn't feel very secure but it was fine. The walls were thin and you could hear others very easily. The most unsafe feeling was that there was a homeless man living in the back corner of the parking lot. He had a toiled and oven back there. I didn't feel very safe being a solo traveler and having a dog that needed a late night potty break. We made sure to go out right before sundown. I was also worried about my vehicle but thankfully it was not tampered with through the night. This was an okay stay for the price and for one night but I was glad to get checkout early the next morning.

If you weren't depressed before you get to your room, it's right behind the door. The lobby is in excellent condition compared to the rooms... I was scared there might be bed bugs, the stains on the carpet were large and there was a mildew odor everywhere... we checked right out of that nonsense.... This place needs an overhaul and Burlington should be embarrassed that they allow guests to stay here at all.

We were charged $227 for the room and it was truly one of the worst hotels I've ever been in. Wish I had gone to a Motel 8. Door didn't close all the way but somehow the deadbolt worked. Bedspreads were thin, cheap polyester. Upholstered chair at table was covered with stains. Toilet was cracked. No drain cover in sink. Black mold on tub caulking. Bottom of tub with worn marks. Placard on back of door was missing and its casement was ripped off. Back of bathroom door showed signs of wear with streaks of the cheap veneer pulled off. It was clean though!

We chose this hotel based on price and other reviews which were not so bad. The place was awful. The rooms smelled like cigarette smoke (although we had to sign a contract for no smoking) and industrial cleaner. There was no bath mat or wash cloth. The bed was surprisingly ok, but the rooms were drab and not super clean. The "continental breakfast" consisted of coffee and packaged granola bars and doughnuts. People were smoking pot at the doorways. Just awful. Upon checkout, no one even asked how we found things.

Huh. I guess my wife and I weren't seeing the hotel others seem to have experienced. Our room wasn't filthy, there wasn't any mold, the staff was accommodating, the continental breakfast was exactly on a par with what "continental breakfast" means industry-wide, there were no signs of vermin, the AC worked just fine, etc etc. The location is also terrific (right by two bus routes and equidistant between the downtown and the train station, and adjacent to a mall and a number of dining options), there's a nice pool and hot tub, all serene. Now yes: this is an "economy" hotel. Someone paying $300 a night AFTER fees needs to learn how to travel -- we paid $115 a night through Expedia. The criticisms about it being "dated" are absurd: are any of you planning to host a dinner party in your hotel room or something? News flash, Hotelzillas: if you want the trappings of a luxury hotel, you have to -- wait for it -- PAY THE PRICES of a luxury hotel. Good grief. Since what I do in a hotel room is rest and sleep in it, I don't give a good goddamn about whether the decor is "dated" or not. But there were flaws costing the extra star: a curtain was broken, there were no hangers for the coat rack (well above my wife's head), the bathroom was teensy, and being a senior citizen with shot knees, getting up the flight of stairs -- no elevator -- was hard. That being said, next time we're coming to Burlington, we'd have no problem staying here again.

Great hospitality, quiet atmosphere. Older and a bit run down but nice pool and hot tub. Carpet needs attention. Bed was comfortable and clean. Bathroom tiny but clean as well. Had a fridge and microwave in the room which was handy. Even thought it looked a bit older and needing some repairs it was clean where it needed to be and a great value with welcoming, friendly staff.

Dirrrty Uh, dirrty (dirrty) Filthy (filthy...) Nasty Anchor inn, you nasty (yeah) Too dirrty to clean my act up Out of all my travels.... this was the most dirtiest disgusting hotel I've ever stayed at. The crazy part was the hotel rooms weren't even ready for me and my coworkers to check into because they said they had to clean them and vacuum them I'm pretty sure they barely cleaned my room let alone vacuum it... the comforters were vintage with vintage stains Before anybody tells me this was the cheapest place in Burlington Vermont I did not pick this hotel my company did. And I would definitely spend more and stay at a Hilton property that they have in the area.

This is a disgusting and repulsive hotel. I ended up here based on a rewards program offering from my creidt card company and I have since alerted them that they need to remove this hotel for their client's safety....and I sent them 3 news articles that mentioned drug busts at this hotel!!The rooms are dirty and smell bad; looks like the walls havent been painted in years. The tub had rust stains and so many layers of grout. There was some kind of material stuffed into the gaps in the windows and it was all discolored and water stained. The AC unit could not be turned down or up so I had to turn it off. It was the worst place I have ever checked into (and I immediately booked another hotel while sitting in my car - I never even unpacked). I couldnt think about lying in the beds......I since found out by googling that this is a known hotel for drug dealers. The furniture is all VERY old and stained and the rugs are in poor shape. STAY AWAY

Ron B. - Yelp doesn't permit a direct reply to your comment, so I'm adding this update. 1 - your comment was regarding a problem with cleanliness, but my review specifically *complimented* the housekeeping staff on cleanliness. Nor did you actually acknowledge ANY of the points in my review. This indicates that you didn't even really READ my review and are simply issuing a rubberstamp reply. 2 - you suggest that if we had complained about the room that things would have been fixed. We DID complain about the room and were told that there were no other rooms at the Inn; no other solutions were offered by the front desk. What YOU need to do is to actually VISIT the rooms and do a THOROUGH inspection. I'd also suggest entirely replacing your maintenance staff with *competent* workers.

It's old, but it's also $100/night cheaper than anything else in the area. It's not well maintained. The sheets seemed relatively clean, though the blanket had a small brown stain on it. Carpet/tile/furniture are all old and not maintained. Towel had a small brown stain on it. Asked the front desk to have the maids replace it while we were out, and someone did obviously put new towels in the room, but it didn't appear that they cleaned the room since the beds were still not made. Staff was nice. Would've been nice if the maids made the bed, but again, $100/night cheaper than anything nearby.
