The name pulled me into this café/diner. I walked in and was met with the donut case in the picture, which made me smile. They sell an assortment of items: homemade soups, spices, etc. I have been on a hunt for "the perfect" cake donut for the last few weeks, and I cannot explain it. I opted for the maple donut, and it was okay. Not too much sugar icing (read: decent crackle), flavor, and chewy. It looked like a cake donut, but alas, this was no cake donut. The staff is very friendly, and there is plenty of seating inside and outside. Parking is also not an issue.

Will since prepared food is why I came, and what predominates here I'll come straight out and say this place is phenomenal; ideologically and in what they offer. I only wish they had seating options, even if only outdoors during warmer months. Alas, its intent seems to be more of a community grocer that also features exemplary, daily take out options. You will not regret you made the trip.

Bought a Natalie's Lemonade 12oz and couldn't believe the nerve of charging $6.06 as a market. This drink is half the price as a 16oz at City Market. The 32oz is on sale for $5.99 right now. I realize this is a small market but the markup is ridiculous....for $6 this lemonade should come with a shot of vodka!

Takeout from this restaurant was a horrendously expensive mistake. This was the most money I have ever paid for fried chicken in my life -- and I've lived in very expensive cities and frequented plenty of pricey spots. $68 for one whole fried chicken is exorbitant. But I wouldn't have minded paying that much money -- I mean, after all, I knew what I was getting into, and I paid in advance (sadly) -- if it had been at least decent fried chicken. Our meal wasn't ready when we came at the appropriate pick-up time, and that apparently was because they were leaving it in the fryer for an extra 20 minutes or so in order to burn it through and through and dry out the meat entirely. I assumed, of course, that we had a decent take-out meal, and didn't check on the state of it before we drove an hour home. Imagine my surprise when I opened the bag to these chicken cinders. As per the accompanying pictures, be forewarned before you pay SIXTY EIGHT dollars for a burnt, dry fried chicken. They should never have put that in a bucket to serve to paying customers. For SHAME, Misery Loves Company. You certainly lived up to your name by providing us with quite an inordinately miserable meal tonight.

They stop making sandwiches at 3pm so I had to settle for a grab and go. The chicken salad sandwich was good and the off brand soda was not worth the cost. There used to be no free parking anywhere nearby

When I saw $26 for two pieces of fried chicken with sides, I rolled my eyes. Is Vermont this expensive? That is until multiple people said "this is the best damn chicken in the country". Let me tell you, this is the best fried chicken I have ever had in the entire country. I don't know how they get the chicken this crispy but it is worth every penny. The chicken goes excellent with the biscuit that's provided. The baked beans are also a big hit. I can't believe I'm saying this but I would come here again and pay for a whole bird.
