This an update to my earlier review. After speaking with general manager he informed me that he was never told by the front staff clerk (Mark) about the issues that we were having. He was very apologetic and made some concessions that I was happy with. I have scheduled another visit there shortly because I do believe that the circumstances that happened to us was an isolated event.

No I am not lucky when it comes to sleep but this was ridiculous! I did NOT enjoy my stay! The room was not clean- the bed wasn't made the bathroom light didn't work. The neighboring room was playing loud music all night - then people where outside of my room out side at 5am! Couldn't find anywhere to park. The rooms have an abundance of rust. The couch had a HUGE wet spot! I had NO WHERE else to go so I had to stay, but will not be coming to this one ever again

The Room we had was not very Clean. There were stains on the Sheets as well as the towels. The Shower Liner had mold growing on it at the bottom and toilet had a dark Yellowish Brown Satin around the base. There was also Sand on the Couch that was never swept off when before we checked in. Also, the pool was not open and nothing was mentioned prior to our booking the room. The only good this was that the Staff was friendly.

Dirty dingy nasty place. Painted over drywall problems. Lamps falling apart. Noisy air conditioning that barely worked. Deteriorating seals around air conditioner left you open to the air on the 6th floor. No breakfast. Rude customer service. Couch looked like it had happy ending all over it. Refused to sit or let my kid sit on it. Makes you wonder about the beds. And to top it all off feces on the wall in the bathroom. Should have known better. The ratings on Hotels.com were elevated the day I booked and were lower the day I checked in. Never again. Stay away.

It's a roof over your head, a climate-controlled bed, and breakfast rations. It's also kinda dingy with sand all over the place, has a super-crowded parking lot, and notably, is not actually on the beach. Your view will be of the street, or a hotel that is actually facing the water. I say: if you're going to VA Beach, go all out and stay in one of the waterfront hotels. But if you're looking for an inexpensive option and plan to be on the beach all day anyway, this is a budget-friendly option.

Checked in on Wednesday threw bags in hotel and left for beach and lunch. When we came back there was a dirty bar of soap in the bathroom covered in hair and little mounds of sand all over the closet. The fridge wasn't working so I plugged it into a different socket and saw a mess of disgust behind the cabinet where the fridge is, including used q-tips and balloons. All the lamps in our room were wobbly and half the plugs didn't work. Personal plans had changed so we tried to extend our stay priceline and the GM at the front desk were completely unhelpful and I even asked to book a reservation back through them to stay in our room at a discounted price and was informed sternly NO he was not allowed to do that but the most he did for the lack of cleanliness of the room was discount me the $14 service fee they charge. I booked through another site for a slightly discounted night to stay in our room instead of moving 2 kids and 2 adults to a hotel 2 blocks down for a cheaper price. I'll never stay at Clarion again. You also can't get ahold of anyone at Choice Hotels to speak with about the problems we have had.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. First we booked the rooms as ocean front. This hotel is not ocean front at all. It's a block away. The pictures on the website look nothing like the actual rooms. When we checked in the hallways and whole hotel smelled like weed. There was a roach in the lobby and no air conditioning in the hallways or elevator. When we walked into the rooms (we booked two), these were the conditions: stains on the couch, stains on the curtains, stains on the bed, used toothbrush/q-tips behind the dresser, hair on the toilet/ bathtub, stains in the bathtub, crumbs on the floor, torn carpet, dust everywhere, and dirty microwaves/ refrigerators. The front desk clerk wasn't helpful at all and said there was no manager available to talk to and that he couldn't give us a refund. We immediately left and booked another hotel across the street. Other guests were having the same complaints. We came back the next day to talk to the manager for a refund who only agreed to give a partial refund since we refused to stay in another room. These rooms and hotel were not sanitary and cleaned per COVID standards at all. This hotel has been reported to the local health department. DO NOT STAY HERE!!

DO NOT stay here I should have looked at the reviews before booking this hotel because there is a reason they have 2 stars. Let me explain our experience and why we had to get switched to another room. We arrived pretty late for check-in time (10 PM) but was greeted at the front desk by a friendly guy who gave us our room keys. The first room is the reason for our complaint to the General Manager, Justin Adkins, who did not contact us, but we had to contact him. When we arrived in the room, the first thing my sisters and I noticed where small details of uncleanliness that we should have focused on more. The floors were not vacuumed, the room didn't smell of any cleaning supplies, and there was leftover hair on the towels in the bathroom. Not thinking anything of it, we quickly dropped off our stuff and went to the beach for a midnight walk. We are from Colorado, so we wanted to reap the benefits of Virginia Beach as soon as possible. Upon our arrival back, 3AM, it was time to shower and sleep. When we closed the bathroom door, this is when we noticed unacceptable evidence of a dirty room. There were towels still hanging from the previous stay behind the door. We did NOT see this when we first walked in. So, that was red flag 1. Then, we checked the beds and noticed there were hair and a substantial amount of crumbs and stains from the preceding stay on the bed under the bedding. Immediately, my sisters and I wanted to contact ANYONE to get us out of this room. Due to the time at this point, we had a challenging time reaching the front desk to rectify our issue. Finally, we got a hold of someone and were told to go to the front to get keys to another room. At the front desk, I spoke with Bebe (not sure of the last name), and she was understanding on our issue and gave us keys to another room. I MOST definitely voiced my concerns with an uncleanly room in the middle of a pandemic and communicated this is not an inconvenience but a safety hazard. This is not okay! I clearly stated a cleanroom is an expectation upon the arrival of your guests, and sanitation of ALL rooms should be the hotel's utmost priority at this time. She directed me to speak with the manager in the morning, Anthony, to accommodate our stay. Anthony, although was friendly and understanding, was not helpful. He then told me the General Manager, Justin Adkins, would be calling us Monday to discuss reimbursement options because we booked through Expedia. Monday rolls around and no call from Justin, so we called him. To my surprise, Justin was NOT aware of any of this. After filling him in and voicing our concerns, especially in a pandemic, he said the best he could do was a 25% discount after we called Expedia. He was empathetic but not extremely helpful. So, what did I learn, ALWAYS LOOK AT THE REVIEWS! I would NOT recommend this hotel due to clear sanitation violations in a pandemic and their communication and action plan to correct THEIR problem to have repeated customers.

It wasn't horrible. I mean great price, good much needed sleep and in the morning there was a decent breakfast. My complaints come in regards to how cold the room was. Even with the heat all the way up , it never really got cozy. The bathroom felt like a freezer the entire time. Also I had to wait forever and a day for the water to get warm to take a shower. Not very much fun there. Also I was somewhat disappointed that this wasnt a hotel with ocean view rooms.

This hotel sits across the street from the boardwalk and claims you get a "oceanfront view". I can see the ocean but it still across the street and have to look at another hotel. Besides that, I can't complain about the hotel. The hotel has ample amount of parking, fitness center, business center, conference room, free breakfast and free wifi. I didn't eat at the free breakfast so can't say anything about that. The rooms was very big with a microwave and fridge. The bathroom was on the small side and wish that it could have been bigger. The beds were decent and they had a lot of pillows (goose feather!!) which was a bonus for my husband. The staff was extremely nice and helpful.
