DoubleTree by Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront South is a prominent hotel located in Virginia Beach, VA, known for its stunning oceanfront views and convenient access to the beach. Upon arrival, I presented the my id and the card which I had booked with. However, I chose to pay with cash. I was informed that on top of the $608/night rate, to pay with cash incurred a $250 hold fee. I was surprised but was prepared to pay it. Then, the Front Desk Attendant tried to simply take the deposit, put it in an envelope, write on the envelope what it was and give me my room key. I asked for a receipt showing that I had paid for my stay in full, so I could present receipt at checkout the next day. He said they were unprepared to give me a receipt and I could simply tell them. I said, "I just gave you over $800 in cash. If you are not the attendant on staff when I check out, how will I be able to prove, if necessary, that I have already paid in full for my stay. (Mind you, I was never given the option of paying deposit and then paying balance at checkout, as one normally does for a hotel stay.) He became flustered and told me he had written everything down and they had cameras. I told him I was simply asking for a receipt of the transaction. After going back and forth telling me that Doubletree (a decades old btand) was not able to provide me a receipt... VOILA!, He finally hit a button and seamlessly printed one. This all took about 25 mins! Then, later toight, I asked for a late checkout. He said there is no late checkout on Sundays. I am typing this from the property. It is my utmost hope that I do not encounter any problems obtaining my deposit when I check out at 11am. This was meant to be a fun, relaxing getaway. For almost $1k for one night, I will not be returning to Doubletree.

I was in an upper floor but with people playing loud music at 4 am during quiet hours of 10pm to 7am (a violation of VA Beach city ordnance) and management doing absolutely nothing made this a terrible experience. Do not waste your time with this hotel.

Absolutely LOVED my stay at the DoubleTree Hilton in Virginia Beach! The views and location are perfect. They are a bit pricey, over $200 per night but I think the benefit of being right on the beach and the location are more than worth it. We liked it so much we extended our stay another night! The concierge are very friendly and welcoming. We checked in later in the evening and the gentleman helping us was great. We also got their fresh double tree chocolate chip cookies! Definitely make sure you get some when checking in. They're so good we've actually found the recipe online and made them at home quite a few times for the family. The only cons I would mention is that the rooms are quite small. Would be nice to have a little more space. The bathrooms are so small you barely have room to even move. I get that they tried to Jam Pack as many rooms as possible so they can have more guests but if it weren't for that I'd have given a five star rating. The parking garage is across the street and I believe it was a $40 charge per night. They offer valet parking but the hours are weird, I think the concierge said they close at 9 or 10pm every night so we felt it would be better to self park so we'd have access to our vehicle whenever we wanted. Back to the pros. The location is perfect! Right on the boardwalk with an oceanfront view. Plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance too! We definitely explored for the few days during our stay. I love that you don't have to go far for anything. The rooms are clean, they have dressers and a closet for extra storage so plenty of space to put your clothes and other traveling items. The tv had a bad connection and would go out often but that wasn't too bad since we hardly used it. The balcony was a nice size. They provide two patio chairs and a small table for guests to utilize, which we did every night that we were there. It's really nice just relaxing out on the balcony and enjoying the beach views or people watching on the boardwalk. Overall I do highly recommend staying here if you don't mind a smaller room! I think the pros outweighed the cons. If I'm ever back in Virginia Beach I would definitely stay here again.

If you see my comment then avoid booking here especially if you are family of 4, not enough space very small rooms!! Also, Found a spider on the table, please go ahead and check the corners of bed mattresses for room number 509, the room was very small not enough for a family of 4 like 2 kids 2 adults! Not like it shows in the picture!!! Very very small, the toilet is very small! I checked in next day into days in by Wyndham rooms clean, big enough, bigger fridge, and fair price, free parking spot, free breakfast! Price is lower than double tree

It's a little pricey, but it's a great hotel. The hotel is clean, with beautiful amenities. The view of the water in the morning is breathtaking. We are enjoying our stay.

Location is great, balcony with ocean view. Listened to the waves all night. Strong smells of weed in the lobby, muted cigarette smells in the hallway. Our room also had an intense musty smell. We were able to mostly air it out by keeping the balcony door open. Security guard chillin talking loudly on his cell phone when we arrived, check in person seemed a bit annoyed. They allowed late check out which was nice

Booked and stated here for a sports tourney Only stayed 1 night. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are relatively clean. It is an older hotel that has undergone some renovations which helps. Things that were lacking which may or may not be important to all, but more of pet peeves for me: -the bathrooms are small and poorly lit with no air circulating fans. -the walk in showers are very small and the shower floors are dingy (bring your shower shoes). -only 2 of 3 elevators were working and on a busy weekend that makes for long wait times. -the hotel Restaurant was so slow and not equipped to handle large parties. At a location directly across the street from a sports venue, that should not be the case. Overall, the proximity of this hotel to our destination was the biggest plus for our stay but it needs improvement in some areas. Probably won't book again.

Where do I start with this hotel? First from booking, they screwed up my reservation then would let me adjust before checking in. Once I got to the hotel they said I could adjust it because I already checked in. The staff other than the manager were decent but the desk manager was a terrible human. Our room was nasty and for what they charge here it should be immaculate. Look at the pictures provided. Our shower and Tv were both broken and they did nothing to fix it. Refer to pictures. Honestly the only good thing about this hotel is the view and the restaurant attached called Mahi's which has no hotel affiliation. Lastly as a Diamond member of the Hilton Hotels I'd expect to get treated with a little more respect considering the amount of money I've dumped into this hotel chain over the years. If I could have left zero stars I would have. Do better Hilton.

I booked a stay on 11/02/2022 for 2 separate rooms during 04/27/2023 - 05/01/2023 and 04/28/2022 - 05/01/2023 with the DoubleTree by Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront South. I received email confirmations for both stays with worry. These are the terms/rules for the booking: There is a credit card required for this reservation. If you wish to cancel, please do by 11:59 p.m. on Apr-26-2023, to avoid cancellation penalty equal to the first night's room and tax. When you check in, a hold may be placed on your card for the full anticipated amount to be owed to the hotel, including estimated incidentals, through your date of check-out. Any such hold may not be released for 72 hours from the date of check-out or longer at the discretion of your card issuer. If the slider is used to select a Points and Money combination, that selection is final once your stay is booked. The rules and conditions are understood. However, I received an email on 11/07. I have posted the email below. Thank you for choosing our hotel for your hospitality needs. We regret to inform you that we are unable to confirm your reservation - Conf #80311276. We unfortunately do not have availability on rooms for your requested dates. You may change the reservation dates or cancel the reservation free of charge. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Kind regards, Giulia Giavazzi...Assistant General Manager...Tel (757) 425-7800 | Fax (757) 437-0470 ... DoubleTree by Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront ...But as of this day, both reservations are still confirmed via the Hilton Honors account. Today, 11/26. I received a call from associate, Lindsay and then was transferred to the manager, Denise with DoubleTree by Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront South and she, Denise, became irate and before hanging up the phone call, she advised the rooms would be canceled within 48 hours because of a glitch. This is not right and these terms are not listed in my confirmation. Desired Settlement: to leave booked reservations as is without penalty.

On past Doubletree stays the free warm cookies at the front desk blind me from noticing how the hotel brand is lacking. This Doubletree is the one exception. Here's why: 1) Space: It's recently renovated and beautiful. The lobby is spacious and clean. The rooms are a tad small, but design forward and inviting. Our beachfront rooms came with balconies overlooking the ocean. There's a door on the ground level that connects to the boardwalk. 2) Service: The staff are friendly and want you to have an amazing stay. 3) Location: It's along the Oceanfront near top restaurants, stores and the beach. 4) Amenities: The award-winning warm chocolate chip cookies at the front desk are a plus, but so is restaurant, gym, pool and small market. There's valet parking or free parking nearby.
