It's a beautiful ride to Bainbridge Island from Seattle. Although it has gotten more and more expensive (duh), it is a great way to get to Seattle. The cafe onboard is somewhat small and the water is NOT free, even though it used to be. Great views of the bay and of the city.

Purchased tickets to leave Friday Harbor on the 10th of July and return to Anacortes at 1:50 pm. This was to be a return after what can only be described as an abismal trip over where the ferry arrived hours late and then made unplanned stops and then out of nowhere spent over an hour deciding to do a man overboard drill making the journey from Anacortes take over 5hours. The return was worse. We were told the Ferry would be late and that we should check back in 30 minutes. This situation continued to occur for 4 hours until the Ferry arrived at nearly 6:00pm. When they arrived the Ferry sat for over half an hour after everyone was off and did not allow anyone to enter the boat. After the incredibly long wait and literally no communication after failure after failure after failure to state when or what was happening we spent Four and half hours sitting in our car at the dock. Now for the worst part. I understand things happen. I understand delays. I don't however understand not providing any communication other than sitting on the dock and waiting for an announcement from a PA system of and when they decide to communicate. The contempt they have for all the people traveling is mind boggling. There are simple solutions that would fix these matters. 1. Send a blast text to all travelers when the boat is 30 minutes away to return to their cars. 2. Provide on the ferry website the GPS location of the Ferry and a regularly updated departure and arrival times. 3. Competition. Amazon, UPS, FedEx all have steeped in and proven that having things delivered can be done far superior to the USPS does it and with right on time communication 4. Get with Uber and door dash and ask them to provide code that provides up to date arrival information through and app on your phone. So easy to fix and so poorly managed that if I weren't older now I would start a competitive business and put them out. They are the worst ren business I have seen decades, truly a disaster. Good luck to all the Seattle residents with this horrible Ferry. I won't be coming back.

For an organization that is late/cancels 25% of the time - it's madness that being 3min (arrived at 12:03, done measuring at 12:06 a zero grace period) late cancels my reservation and puts me in stand-by. Do not be 1 min late for your reservation. But do not expect them to leave on time - ever. Thanks for ruining the start of our trip.

Priority loading for medical/post surgery is a joke. Just had a total hip replacement at a hospital in Seattle and was ready to be closest to the bathroom on the lower deck. What did WFS do? They put my husband and me on the second side deck without a bathroom. 20 steps with a walker-no elevator to use if need be. Really terrible experience.

Had to ride the ferry today. ( no choice) once on board they said I could jot order a beer since the ferry had left the dock.. what an A**hole since when? No need thanks for saving me the $9.50 ;)

Ok. So this place is really cool! It's a WHOLE PEIR of shops and bars. Kind of like our Aloha Tower BUT 10X's better!! Why?! Because it's 5x's the size than Aloha tower. AND... it has a lot of games. It has a huge huge arcade and a carousel that runs through the day. On top of the giant wheel, the ducks clothes at 10PM every day. The price to ride the Ferris wheel is $19. Ûgeneral adult mission.

The ferries are always late. They are ridiculously expensive. They rarely tell you that even though you are on time, the ferries will not be. Do yourself a favor, save time and money, and drive wherever you're going!

I recently traveled to Friday Harbor with my family for a wedding in Roche Harbor. I really must comment the reservation staff for delivering on all aspects of excellent customer service. They were consistently friendly, professional, and very helpful. I changed my reservation a couple of times and each call was a pleasure to speak with the agent. Great job!

Washington has been running a ferry system longer than anyone, but if they had told me that yesterday was their very first day, I'd believe it. No one seems to know anything they're doing. For the past several years, I've asked when they plan on returning the Port Townsend / Coupeville run to two-boat service, they always answer "next spring". Once again, spring has come and gone, and they still only have one boat working the Port Townsend / Coupeville run. This makes a trip to Port Townsend virtually impossible - unless you reserve a spot several weeks ahead. Reservations fill up that far in advance. Want to visit the San Juan Islands? Plan a year in advance! Retired WSF employees blame mis-management for their lack of performance. Failure to simply think ahead is the reason their service stinks today, when at one time they were the best in the business.
