It was such a beautiful day that we decided to take the ferry over to Bainbridge Island. It was a pretty easy process. Make sure you pay attention to the current schedules as they change in the fall in winter. Cost was a little over $10 for an adult ticket and if you were over 65 it's half price so bonus for my husband. You pay on the way over to the island and it's free to return. You don't even need to scan a ticket. This is one of those ferries where you can bring your bike or even drive your car, but we found the island to be pretty walkable so decided to just get some exercise. They do have a little restaurant and shop on board as well as a bar It's huge and there is plenty of seating as well as a deck on top if you want some amazing views It was quite popular to be at the front of the ship as you were coming into either location to get some great views of both the island and then the return to Seattle They were spot on time so don't be late!

I took the Washington State Transportation Department ferry from Seattle to Bainbridge on a late September Sunday. Pros: - Free ferry service for walk-on (e.g., not driving) passengers on the return trip from Bainbridge to Seattle - Ferry has great indoor and outdoor seating - Ferry and ferry terminal both have a selection of foods and drinks for purchase. The ferry galley itself offered hot soups and meals (like burgers, chicken tenders, fries.) Cons: - Senior/disability tickets not sold online - When purchasing from a ticketing kiosk, a senior fare is simply listed as "disability" rather than "senior/disability" which threw some seniors off. I knew that the fares were synonymous and identically priced, so I just selected this for my passenger buddy. Would arrive at least 15 minutes before departure from either Seattle or Bainbridge terminal. And, as the website suggests, most ferries have plenty of room. They typically only go to capacity on game days for large sporting events.

We took the ferry to Bainbridge Island a few weeks ago during a large family trip to Seattle. My friend recommended the excursion, saying it would be great for our boys, in large part because of the ferry. She was totally right. We had a lovely day trip to the island, bookended by scenic, relaxing rides across the water. We didn't buy tickets in advance and showed up running to catch the 10:40 ferry on a Friday morning. We thought we'd barely made it, but there was some leeway built in while passengers disembarked and we waited to get on. Purchasing tickets was quick and easy, assisted by the nice people working the booth. The ferry was spacious and comfortable, with tons of open seating across two floors. There was an elevator, which let us go upstairs with a stroller. We claimed a couple of tables by a window and took turns sitting and walking around the deck. The ride was short, only about 40 minutes, and the views were great throughout, but especially as we left the terminal. Seattle looks beautiful from the water. Unfortunately, our two-year-old was more interested in the old fan in the cafeteria than in the marvelous ocean views, and I spent a good amount of time chasing him into that room. On the bright side, this was how I learned that the cafeteria sold Uncrustables. We bought one to go, and it ended up feeding our picky five-year-old while the rest of us ate fish and chips on the island. The ferry deposited us a short walk from the main downtown stretch of Bainbridge Island, where we whiled away a few pleasant hours. We caught the 2:55 ferry back, arriving with enough time to line up and watch the bikes and cars get off and enter the island in a little vehicular parade. We were back in Seattle less than an hour later, closing out our afternoon with the wonderful Overlook Walk. If you're spending any amount of time in Seattle, I'd highly recommend a day trip to Bainbridge Island, doubly so if you have kids. I've heard it gets busy on Saturdays and Sundays, but our Friday ferry experience was smooth, peaceful, and fun.

An escort to the birthisland of pickleball, sign me up. + You can catch a sight of almost all WA's top attractions (like Puget Sound, Space Needle, Mt Rainier). + Both of the 2 vessels, Tacoma and Kaleetan, are beautiful. Huge. Fun to run around and explore the multiple floors, take pics with friends. + The ride is very smooth. So smooth that you don't even feel the takeoff. . Not much hearty meal food on board. Mostly just snacks, which is understandable, considering it's only a half hr ride. . $10.25 round trip for one adult (no car). + Why go on a $1000 cruise when you can go on a $10 one? xD

We took the ferry from Bainbridge Island to Seattle. It's about a 30 minute ferry ride to get to the city and it's a great way to get to Pike Place Market and the waterfront area. It's a beautiful scenic ferry ride and on a clear day you can even see Mount Rainer. The city skyline is also a sight to see!!

Perfect way to travel between Seattle and BainBridge. A round trip ticket is $10.25 (September 2025). The station is clean and spacious. The ferry was HUGE with a lot of seating. The indoor seating was quite comfy. Perfect place to take a nap during the ride. The ferry moves rather slowly and was very smooth. I couldn't feel any waves/current. I took a Dramamine just in case but clearly didn't need to.

What a fantastic day. Foggy, misty, ferry ride with my favorite human. Purchased tickets at the terminal. No line, no wait. As we waited in the terminal, folks began arriving. Ferry never felt crowded. Plenty of seating indoors and standing outdoors (if you can brace the cold!). My daughter was surprised at the smoothness of the ride. Water was somewhat choppy although we never felt it. The weight of the ferry allows for a very comfortable sail. A great way to spend a day!

Quick and cost-effective way to cross the Puget Sound from Seattle to Bainbridge Island and back. We went on a Sunday and it wasn't crowded, no wait to get tickets, which were $10 round trip. The terminal in Seattle was spacious with lots of seating and clean. You scan the ticket when you go, but they didn't check on our return. Lots of seating, as well as booth seating with a table if you want to have a snack of drink. There's a small cafe and vending machines on the ferry if you didn't pack any. It takes about 35 minutes each way, so plenty of time to get some photo ops. There are large windows all around and a top level where you can walk around, but it was super windy! Definitely recommend this ferry and a day trip to Bainbridge Island if you're visiting Seattle!

It was easy to purchase a ticket and ride the ferry the first time as a pedestrian. The ferry was not overcrowded and I was able to walk around while on it. I rode it from downtown Seattle to Bainbridge and back. The view of the Seattle skyline was beautiful.
