We absolutely love the Ballard Academy of Music & Dance and our daughter gets so excited each week to attend!! She enjoys it so much, we added a second class-- and now she gets to learn from both Eva and Madison. They're both excellent, patient teachers!

High quality school, with teachers who get it. My kid didn't want to do tap.. the teacher walked over and said my daughter may have sensory overload and may need headphones. That's what I'm talking about! She didn't say oh your daughter is "having a bad day, or not participating" She looked at the situation and provided a solution! They're moms... they get it!

We just love this dance studio. My daughter took classes at other dance studios around the city when she was younger, but she wanted to get more serious about it and was looking to be more challenged. She also wanted to have the experience of learning routines and performing on stage with a costume. This place has been perfect for her over the past couple years. The instructors are very experienced and they push the kids to try hard and learn a ton. Teacher Margaret has been amazing. Highly recommend!

My daughter has been at this academy for over one year. Up front I know that this year has been challenging because of changing covid guidelines. Unfortunately this dance school is poor about communication. They telephoned to ask me on two recent occasions if it would be alright if they changed the day of the class due to the convenience for the instructor as she apparently drives from some distance to teach. When I called back to ask some questions about the change, there was no answer. I left a message. It takes them days to get back to you. I sent an email. The day of the class change they finally email back to say that the class is on the new day. No confirmation from me. My children ending up missing about 2/3 of the class as I didn't see their late response until too late. They said they would credit me for HALF since the teacher didn't want to come back and teach them on their scheduled day. It would behoove them to have someone checking their phone messages and email remotely and not wait until someone is actually in their office. They have clients who are affected by their schedule changes. I've stuck by them during this pandemic because I want local businesses to survive this pandemic, but their delay in response and changing schedules without confirmation from the families is unacceptable.

I loved this studio for my toddler. It was perfect for her. -Her teacher balanced creative dance with learning some ballet terminology. At 3, she knows her positions, but also knows that ballet is fun. -The end of the year performance at Shorewood High School Theatre was impressively well run. -They do a good job making the toddlers feel special from the costumes, to the professional photos, to the end of year medals. -The staff is very friendly and patient. -They have wifi- you just have to ask. As with every studio, I'm sure it depends on which teacher you have, but we loved our experience!

We had a TERRIBLE experience with this school! Avoid it all costs. We signed our daughter up for piano lessons at the Shoreline branch. First of all, the instructor turnover is ridiculous at this place- none of the teachers stayed with the school more than 6 weeks. Each teacher started over from scratch with my child, meaning that after 4 months she had made virtually no progress in learning piano. When we finally decided to withdraw we carefully read the policy on the website. They bill you by the month and the website says you need to withdraw at least five days before the start of the next month. We did so several weeks in advance- having paid in full through the end of that month. Incredibly, the school insisted on keeping our $200 "deposit" (which essentially is prepayment for the following month of classes) even though we withdrew weeks in advance of the 5-day deadline! I tried emailing multiple times but never got a response when I asked to talk to someone directly to explain why we wanted to cancel (they literally just never emailed me back). Finally someone called me from the school and left a message but the number they left just rings and rings- no one ever answers. Ultimately I just gave up. I can see why the instructors all quit this place. It is disorganized, poorly managed, and shockingly unresponsive to customers. I cannot urge you strongly enough to AVOID unless you like throwing away money or wasting time on useless lessons.

My 3 year old daughter has wanted to take ballet lessons since she was 2 years old. So when she turned 2.9 years, I made it my motherly mission to search for a good class. What sold me on this place was their detailed description of the type of floor they use in their studio. Basically, it's as "cushioned" as hardwood floors can get, making it gentle on their bones and joints as they're jumping. She's learning her first and second positions, as well as running around and having fun. The academy seems really invested in their students and have introduced things like a prize machine, where they can earn tokens from their teachers and use it to get a small price (think old school quarter in a giant gum ball machine, but instead of gum balls, it's gum ball-sized prizes)! We've been going since Sept. 2013, but so far so good! My daughter seems to love it and both the staff and teachers are super friendly and helpful!

The Princess Fairy summer camp was good. The year long class was..... Not at all. The kids in the week long class learned a good amount and had a blast . The kids in the year long class, same level, learned almost nothing. It's a good place for kids to dress up and play ballerina, not really where your kids should go if they want to learn how to dance.

Both my daughter (now 16) and I have taken voice lessons here for around 2 years. We both worked with John initially who moved on to a full performance schedule. Now my daughter works with Amy who she has had great success with. I have been working with Kate who is amazing. I have always wanted to sing better and she had helped me extend my comfortable range and the quality of my sound. Singing is so much more fun now and I keep learning more! She's really easy to work with and gives precise pointers I can apply.

My daughter took dance here for years...she had different instructors for the different classes and loved them all! The entire staff is welcoming, organized and kind. The end of year recital taught my daughter confidence and courage and to love dance! I would highly recommend this academy.
