Big bakery with sandwiches and pastries/breads! Lots of seating available and service is quick. I got the tuna sandwich which was good and the cinnamon roll. Both portions were quite big. Really nice place to be on a sunny day since there's outdoor seating.

It was a last-minute, let's check this place out for breakfast morning (we were starving, and had little time). Sooo glad we did. Great selection of pastries and sandwiches. Grand Central is known locally for making great breads (you'll see them at PCC, TnC, and other markets). They did not disappoint in their sit-down establishment. We loved their Fritatta sandwiches. Yes we both ordered exactly the same sandwich. It was scrumptious. Also got a chai and a Blueberry Muffin. The latter was fresh, had lotsa blueberries, and was not too sweet--just the way I like them. Comfy digs and polite staff to boot. How could I not have frequented this place in the past!?

I was lucky enough to visit Grand Central Bakery on a quaint Sunday afternoon and there was only a small line and quick service. You can also order online if you would prefer not to wait at all. The staff were very knowledgeable and kind in suggesting me a loaf of bread to have with avocado. 5/5 for service. I went with his suggestion of a rustic baguette, which was a little expensive at around $4. This is where one star was lost. Maybe it was intended to be like this, but I thought the bread was too crusty. The crust was very hard and I felt like I was going to cut my mouth eating it. This is the second star. Despite the hard exterior though, the inside was pretty soft. Flavor wise, it was nothing special. I prefer the bread at La Parisienne in Belltown instead. They also make a lot of variations of sourdough, pastries, sandwiches, and drinks. It seems to be a nice place to sit and work in with lots of natural light and ample seating.

I have kept giving grand central a chance bc generally we like their sandwiches and the bread is great (though the wait times and cafe experience haven't been the ~friendliest~). But this last order on 4/27 was our breaking point. I ordered a large (and there is a small option) kale salad with an $8.65 addition of chicken salad and what I got was deeply ridiculous given the nearly $20 price tag. It was like a tablespoon of chicken salad. Given that I placed the order for pickup, this almost feels like it was intentional. If you don't have enough product to fill an order, set it aside and let the patron know when they come to pick it up. I'm not one to post bad (or really any) reviews, but I honestly feel swindled by this location now.

I want to like this place so bad... I've given it a few attempts in hopes that it will be better the next time. Three tries later, I think I'm giving up. The folks working the counter are, on average, not very friendly - I totally don't expect a conversation about the weather or how they're doing (they're busy and want us to order and be onto the next customer, I respect that), but they're pretty dismissive. Now, onto what really matters, the food! I don't eat meat and my last order (one of their veg sandwiches) had a piece of meat on it. Not groundbreaking news, but kind of annoying. The other time I got a sando (their fancy grilled cheese), it was cooooovvveered in mayonnaise, a nauseating amount. My third order was something forgettable. Pros: I like their pea mash and sourdough bread. Kudos to them for their pastry variety

This is a great spot for coffee and a treat or for a sandwich and soup for lunch. The space is bright and airy and clean. The staff are helpful and attentive. And you can't beat their pastries. I really enjoy the tuna melt sandwich with soup on a cold day too. Great for eating in or takeout.

For many years i have patronized grand central bakery in wedgewood and wallingford. This morning at 8.30am my experience was bad in every way. First of all the employees this morning seemed unhappy and rude. There was no greeting when I walked in even though the place was completely empty. I ordered 2 chocolate crossants, 2 cheese danishes and 2 chocolate chip cookies all to go. When i got back to my apartment 1 hour later I tried eating the chocolate crossant and cheese danish. Both the cheese danish and chocolate crossant were as hard as a rock i almost broke a tooth. The chocolate crossant and cheese danish also tasted stale and not fresh like it had lost flavor. Then this afternoon i tried eating a chocolate chip cookie. The cookie was also as hard as a rock that if I continued eating it I would break a tooth. The cookie also tasted like it was old and lost flavor. This place has rude unhappy employees and charges high prices and sells unfresh food!! After today's experience I'm probably not going back to grand central bakery.

A nice place to gather and enjoy a pastry and a coffee. My go to item is the sticky bun and they make it really well here. My partner likes the chocolate croissant. This place is busy and there's lots of tables to meet friends or bring your family.
