We rented a car from this location. Process was smooth, car was great. But have to give a special mention to Melissa, Abu and Jared, who went above and beyond to reunite my son with a small treasure he left in the car. The store was closed when we arrived, but they were still inside and managed to locate the car and the keys (thankfully it hadn't been turned over yet), and get it back to us. Cannot say enough nice things about these wonderful humans who cared enough to reunite a 7 year old boy with a tiny heart shaped rock. We will always use Hertz from now on!

Terribly unpredictable. Hertz has become one of the worst rental agencies and this is the worst location I've ever used. Understaffed, not enough cars. Workers are often stressed under the weight of the inept corporate incompetence. So much can go wrong renting here (everything you can imagine, really) and you may wind up leaving without any vehicle whatsoever. Plus, Hertz loyalty program is an utter joke. They need to fire Hertz CEO Gil West and try harder to find actual leadership. And stop letting assholes AKA "activist investors" run *anything*. Like Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) and those activist investors, The Hertz Corp is inept. Just painful.

This was a really unpleasant rental car experience. We'd rented a car and confirmed online and got to this location a little early to find there were no cars available and a long line of about 20 folks who also had rented cars but weren't going to be receiving them. This derailed our plans for the next week as there weren't other locations nearby or easy transit to a satellite location, and the staff genuinely didn't even apologize or acknowledge the error on their part, instead acting flustered and rude. The Manager was confrontational to several folks who were reasonably asking about what to do since many were stranded now bcs of the Hertz team's error. I've never seen a Manager act that aggressive or openly lose their cool in front of customers. It was uncomfortable, unprofessional and enough to make us never rent from any Hertz location again.

I would leave zero stars if I could. The people who were there working were obviously doing their best, but the whole experience was the worst I have ever had with a rental place downtown. First off, my pickup time was 8:30a. I didn't leave the parking lot until 10a which made me late for an appointment. I was offered no explanation as to why I had to wait. The young man working the desk tried to get me out earlier by offering a complimentary upgrade, but was told by his manager to continue to make me wait. When I finally got the car, it smelled bad, there was garbage shoved under the passenger seat, and various personal effects left behind by previous drivers. I believe I was overcharged. I was quoted a certain amount at the pick-up counter for my rental. The invoice and charges I received were significantly higher. As of this review, I have been offered no explanation as to why, despite making multiple efforts to reach out. At drop off, I was made to wait until someone was able to physically check the car in. I have never had to wait for this with other rental locations. This, in turn, made me late for work. The follow-up I received from Hertz was essentially, 'sounds like a bummer, better luck next time you rent from us.' As if I would ever rent from Hertz again. Bottom line there are much better rental car options all throughout downtown. Avoid Hertz at all costs.

On October 4, 2025, I made a vehicle reservation through Expedia for a Hertz rental and paid $199.26 USD via my debit card. Upon arrival at the location in Fort Lauderdale an hour late due to traffic, I was informed that the vehicle had already been rented and that they could not honor my reservation from Expedia. As a result, I was required to pay again directly to Hertz using my Chase debit card, and Hertz has already withdrawn $195.69 from my account. I contacted Expedia, who advised me to contact Hertz Rental Car to inquire about why my reservation was not honored despite my payment, and noted that Expedia still holds my funds since my reservation was not accepted. I request a full refund from Expedia for the reservation, as they currently have my payment. Hertz and Expedia I got news for you never ever ever again will do business with you.

Checkout process (with reservations!) took over 25 minutes and multiple people. They put us in lower level vehicle. Not friendly.

Wish I could give 0 stars. I got there for a noon reservation, and the address listed for pickup is wrong; the actual pickup is in a garage. Once I got there, they made me wait 30 minutes before even telling me they didn't have a car ready and made me wait another 30 minutes while they cleaned a car. The worst part is when I told them that the delay was unacceptable, the woman falsely claimed I was yelling at her and threatened to cancel my reservation, which seemed to be a transparent attempt to get out of completing a reservation they were not prepared to fulfill. This office is totally dysfunctional. Avoid at all costs and go to the airport instead. In the hour I was there I watched them send others to the airport or tell them that their car wasn't ready or available at all. Absolutely incompetent office.

Terrible hours and not very nice staff. The only person that was nice was the person checking out the car at the end. No after hours drop off, don't even think about coming after 4:30 to drop off. Only good if you need to drop off here. Saw people waiting in line and looked like a nightmare. 2 stars for nice man and the fact that it's available downtown

I rented a car from the place, not happy with the experience. The car pulled a lot to one side, and made noises on the attempt to stop. I would assume this is a rotor or brake pad problem. STill paid quite a bit, but felt unsafe during the rental you know? I feel they should look into things like this before renting cars out to people.
