Unique atmosphere we absolutely reccomend. Disregard that it's in a shithole part of town. Don't come to a karaoke resturaunt if you're expecting a quiet meal. Fantastic authentic food and attentive service. Go here !

I noticed that all the reviews for this restaurant goes way way back like 2011. My family and I went here after 11 pm. This place is sketchy. Not sure if our car was still going to be in the parking lot after our meal or if our catalytic converter would be gone! When we walked in we were seated right away and orders were taken. The lady was polite. As we were waiting for our meal, there was a table on our right doing karaoke in Vietnamese song. I didn't mind the song but it was LOUD! They were having beer in small baskets. As we ate our food, the music got to me. I pretty much lost my appetite plus the dish I had been waiting did not arrive. She was willing to make it but I just couldn't stay any longer due to the high volume of the karaoke. The area was sketchy. Music was too loud during meal time. My guess is that music is loud anytime of day and night. I would go back again.

After passing by this particular place for many years, I finally had the chance to eat here at my mom's suggestion. Based off of what my mom says, this place serves pretty legit hot pot and is a hit spot for late night karaoke / drinking session. Despite the sketchy people that tend to linger outside of this place at any given hour, inside is actually pretty chill. With multiple TV screens all around the restaurant, this is definitely a sweet spot to hit up for football games and such. There's a small bar inside and plenty of seats & tables. Thanh Tam offers a hugeee variety of typical Vietnamese dishes. The menu is easy to read and most of the food are priced reasonably. For food, my mom and I ordered: nem nuong rolls, crispy seafood chow mein, quails and noodle soup. I loveeeee my crispy chow mein dish. Even though the noodles was a little overfried, the broth was tasty and seafood was plentiful. The rolls were alright, nothing too outstanding and the noodles soup was pretty savory. I was a bit disappointed with the quails since it was wayyyy overfried but the seasoning was good. The staff here is friendly and kind, and overall, it's a pretty neat and clean establishment. I would suggest coming here if 1) you got a big group and don't want to wait for a table 2) chill and watch a game 3) you are curious about other Viet joints 4) it's late night, you're drunk, and you're in the mood to chow down food while singing some songs Do note: Karaoke may lean more on the Viet side vs English/other languages.

Oh MAN!!!! I'm just waiting for the price to go up b/c there was a just a big write up in the paper about how awesome these places are. We go for the sandwiches @ 2.50 each, it's kinda a hard price to beat. I get the tofu, and my fella always gets the pulled pork. I don't know much about the rest of the restaurant, but I see that there is a little dance floor and what looks like a karaoke machine there...so whoo-hoo...YOU might be able to get your dance and sing going. Thank you Thanh Tam and your affiliates (the Saigon Deli) for making delicious sandwiches that don't kill me with the price.

2.5 stars. In my continuing quest to hit up all the Pho places within walking distance of my abode, I found myself at Thanh Tam. It was pretty empty at 3pm on a Monday afternoon, so Vietnamese soap operas were being played and we were being somewhat ignored. Whatever. I just wanted my soup. I ordered my go-to Pho Tai, my partner in crime got the "beef stew." Chinese doughnuts were on the menu -- but alas they were out (and the guy taking our order was really rude when informing me about it, ugh). An unusually long wait later we had our food -- my pho coming with fresh produce and cabbage instead of sprouts! Interesting, and an addition I liked since I'm not the biggest sprout fan. My broth and noodles were great, but the rare beef was anything but rare -- and very thick/chewy/unpleasant to eat. CW's beef stew tasted pretty much only fish sauce and chilies, nothing else. I tried several bites -- of the surprisingly thick noodles, the really fatty brisket, and veg. Fish sauce. Fish sauce so overwhelming that our cats were unusually interested in us upon our return home. Cards are accepted, which is nice. Overall -- not the best for pho or soup. I might stop by for banh mi or other Vietnamese cuisine, but when it comes to pho i'll stick with Pho Bac/Viet.

So when I walked in we were greeted with the sound of rowdy cliental, we were told to sit wherever. We chose a table near the back with a nice street side view, our waitress gave us menus and a pot of green tea. The tea tasted authentic and after going through the menu everything was priced reasonably, but from there it went down hill. I had a question regarding the half fried chicken not completely understanding what they were referring to. Not a full understanding of English is not anywhere near a negative, but when I'm asking how the chicken is cooked and I'm greeted by repeated yeses even though my questions started to contradict each other. I dropped the issue and ordered a serving of fresh rolls and seafood fried rice. I had a party of three with me, they all ordered separate items, after about 15 minutes our table was graced with a plate of mint, bean sprouts, and limes. About five minutes later two of my friends got their pho, they told me it was so so. After another five minutes my companion got his food, which not only was the wrong order it wasn't hot. The waitress mislabeled our dishes so when I finally got mine I discovered my 54 was actually my companions 59, not that big of an issue. It was an issue when a random guy walked in took a bottle from the waitress and took a large swig spilling a quarter of it near the counter. He yelled some random phrase that I didn't understand and stormed out. The food itself was really good and I have no complaints other than my rice not being up to temp, I also never got my fresh rolls. So I found out they charged one of my friends a two dollar tip for a 12 dollar meal. Overall the food is good but the service is utter garbage.
