Honestly you guys run a pretty good bus system. I'm serious! I'm from Austin and you guys put our Cap Metro to shame. Buses may run a few minutes late, but they're very reliable, and coverage is solid. Fare is $2 and apparently they don't do passes anymore, which is kind of weird, but you get transfers for like an hour or even 90 minutes afterward. I do everything on the WisGo app which is pretty useful. Keep it up guys!

I wish there could be a way to check in (here on YELP) every time I take the bus. I'm a regular rider and a big fan. Coming from Chicago, two things took some getting used to. The routes aren't linear, and some of them bifurcate, so the best way to learn to take the bus is to use Google Maps directions on public transportation. Then experience will improve your bus taking skill. Taking the bus is a challenge in inclement weather as snow removal clearly prioritizes cars over pedestrians so walking to the bus stop and climbing into the bus from the bus stop can be arduous and dangerous due to ice and plowed snow piles. Still, it's better for me to get on the bus rather than to shovel my car out. The other thing that was hard to get used to is how nice MCTS bus drivers are. In Chicago CTA workers are known for their hostility, unwillingness to provide the merest minimum of assistance, and their generally bad attitudes. Bob Newhart started out his career with a stand up routine imagining how in CTA bus driving school drivers practiced stopping to maximize the number of passengers who would fall. MCTS bus drivers are usually very skillful, polite, and surprisingly frequently heroic. Recently a bus driver rescued a toddler running around without an adult in freezing weather in the street, and another driver got her riders to help push a woman stuck in her car on train tracks during a snow storm. In spite of any weather, they tend to run on time. It's always a good deal, but it's even better when you buy a transit card.

I moved several months ago and am now so happy to be riding the #30 bus instead of the #10. The 30 runs about every 10 minutes instead of every 20-30 minutes. I am really liking the new "Real-Time" feature on the MCTS buses. Although the mapping feature is not working very well on an iPhone platform, there is a simple table that lets you know when the next bus is due to arrive. I have used it a lot and have found it to be quite accurate. This will be huge help in the winter when it is very cold staring at the bus stop! MCTS anticipates that people will write smart phone apps as real-time info is fully implemented. Hopefully we'll get real-time info on our google and apple maps! Who Hoo! By the way, for the haters out there, I ride the bus almost every day. Some days I walk or ride my bike, but I am a regular bus rider. I think the bus is one of the great things about living in Milwaukee. It's not perfect, but it sure beats driving and paying for parking every day. Plus, I don't have to worry about drinking and driving (or someone else drinking and driving and running into me).
