I love using ZipCar. I don't own car and live in busy city. I use it every time I had out to Hometown. Plus get drive all these fancy cars.

It's true! There are Zipcars in Milwaukee. There have been for a while. Heck, I remember when they were FlexCars back in 2008 and then it switched to Zipcar. Anyway, there are a limited number (less than ten) of Zipcars here in Milwaukee that are associated with UWM, but any Zipcar member can make a reservation for any car in any city or university location. The service that Zipcar provides works really well for me - I just wish sometimes there were more cars. I miss the selection I had when I lived in the Bay Area, but I'm super happy that they are here. It's so much cheaper to get a (nice) car for a few hours to run errands than to own a car and way more convenient than renting a car.

OK if you can reserve your car three weeks (six weeks or ten weeks would be better) in advance. The car near where I live is always already booked otherwise. Perhaps accumulated data will lead Zipcar to add another car in the future but that does me no good now. Until then, "Adios, Zipcar."

Such a fantastic idea. The Milwaukee market may be small still, but it's growing! Zipcar was just bought by Avis/Budget which is going to be huge. But for right now, the Zipcar service in Milwaukee is pretty awesome on its own. It's meant to be used when you just need a car for a few hours for stuff like running errands, or moving a thing, or going out to the burbs for some reason. There is a yearly fee, which is not a lot, and then each car is usually $8 or $9 per hour. There are options for renting for longer. Best part: YOU DO NOT PAY FOR GAS. The cars are really nice, ranging from hybrid to SUV. Reserve online or smartphone app. Unlock with a card, or unlock with your phone! We're living in the future, people! UWM and Marquette students/staff/employees get discounts, but anyone can sign up. Cars available on campus, or East Side. Check it out!

If you have to be somewhere in a time crunch be wary ... Our car wouldn't start and after calling Zipcar customer service we were told they had to give us a car that was half a mile away, because our current car was having signal issues. We were already late at that point and had no choice but to walk the distance to the new car and arrive at our destination late. However, the customer service representative (Melissa) was quite pleasant. Which is why I gave it two stars.

I've had to call three times to report problems and the customer service is terrible, usually outsourced to a person who could care less that you're having serious problems. And do not count on Zipcar's gas card working; I went to three gas stations this morning to fill up and the card was rejected each time. Not wanting to use my own money (who knows when Zipcar will reimburse), I cancelled my trip and brought the car back. Zipcar made me pay for a hour, even though I spent less than a half-hour searching for gas and was unable to complete my tasks.

The concept is good, the price is expensive! And if you're looking for great service don't look to zipcar! The worst customer service if there is a problem! I was suppose to receive a credit and 2 weeks later still waiting, I had been hung up over 20times if not more, and left on hold for hours... Looks like Zip is one of the worst services out here. If you want to spend 100/per day rental, experience terrible customer support, give them a try!

Like so many things in life, Zipcar is a great idea, horrible reality. The fundamental business flaw is simple: There's no reliable way to turn in the car. This means you are completely at their mercy when it comes to accusations of damage, dirty car, etc. Today, I got an angry email from them about how I had left my rental from last week "dirty," with footprints on the interior and "debris all over the back seat." That car was impeccable when I left it. In fact, it had been to the carwash that afternoon! Sure, you can buy their insurance (which I did) to cover any damage, but that won't help you in a situation such as this. And did you know you can be fined for multiple reports of a dirty car? Oh yes. And there's no way to prove them wrong. You can find reports all over the Web of people who have been trapped with unverifiable accusations from them, sometimes involving thousands of dollars. So I proudly cut up my membership card. Life is too challenging to have this game of car rental roulette added to it. Good riddance.
