I wanted to try a new Mexican restaurant and found Al Pastor based on a Yelp search and it was great. This local restaurant is a neighborhood gem. Walking in, i was greeted by the friendly staff. The atmosphere felt familiar, like a restaurant I used to visit in Monterrey. The food was a great value proposition. Feel free to mix and match your tacos a la carte, or add rice and beans for a plate. I went with the ala carte option and it was a great value for the price. The additions of onions, cilantro and lime made each of the tacos a delicious treat. Chips, salsa and guacamole rounded out the great meal. I know I will be headed back soon to enjoy other items on the menu.

Great first visit to Al Pastor Mexican Restaurant in West Allis! One person was running both the dining room and the bar, and she absolutely crushed it--quick, friendly service. The complimentary chips came out warm with a trio of salsas, which were so good I ended up buying a container of the verde to take home. For our meal, we each had a trio of tacos with rice and beans. I tried the carnitas, the al pastor, and the campechanos--all with onions and cilantro. The al pastor was my favorite--perfectly seasoned and absolutely delicious. There was plenty of seating indoors, and everything was spotless. There's patio seating available, but it wasn't open due to limited staffing. No big deal--we're already planning to come back and try more of the menu!

The food was high quality, but it was too miserably cold in there to enjoy my food. We complained to two different employees and they kinda just shrugged their shoulders and said "that it's just weird"

Small mom and pop Mexican restaurant that has some authentic plates and bites if you're in the mood for that. The service is usually pretty prompt and quick. They do have a dine in or take out available. Seating is typically never an issue. I usually order a torta de pastor but have had their combination plates as well. Overall it's a cool spot if you want a quick bite to go or sit down. They also have a fully stocked bar and plenty of beers on tap.

I can't believe I hadn't known about Al Pastor! Wow, great place with authentic Mexican. There was a special on Mexican Street Corn in a dish and while it came out with my meal instead of as an appetizer, it was glorious. Roasted corn fresh off the cob, incredibly fresh! The Bistec in Salsa Verde with cilantro, potatoes, onion and green medium sauce was perfection. They serve some breakfast items all day, and I can't wait to return to try more!

Al Pastor catered our son's graduation party and we were extremely happy with both the food and the service! Before we placed our order, we stopped at the restaurant to sample the different options. All were really delicious, so it was a tough choice! Pick-up was a breeze, and our guests loved the food. I look forward to visiting Al Pastor to eat on the patio!

The staff here are very polite. The space is clean and vibrant with outdoor seating available. The food was mediocre and didn't blow me away, but was ok. The price point is way too high for what you get and for the area in my opinion. If the prices were better I would likely go more often.

Since my last review, things have improved! We have visited 3-4 more times, and ALL the waitstaff have been attentive and accurate. The ladies room now has a soap dispenser with soap. The prices have gone up slightly (10-15%), but in my opinion they were underpriced before and have gotten a reasonable bump. You're still going to get great authentic food at a great price. Couldn't recommend this place more! My favorite dishes are: 1. The taco plate. I get steak tacos in soft flour tortillas, as Mexican style. Mexican style is topped with fresh cilantro and diced red onions. Perfection! 2. Steak fajitas. Delicious and I always have leftovers for lunch the next day.
