One of the best places I have ever been. Great place like Robinson Crusoe island but with all the stuff you need! Only things you need to buy before - enough food and repelent against mosquitos. Just one thing we missed a lot - an AC, but we understand it is almost impossible to have it there! Highly reccomended place🏝️🙏🏽

Wir sind aus der Schweiz und haben zu viert in Fare Ahuna übernachtet.

Wenn man auf dem Flughafen in Bora Bora ankommt, nimmt man zuerst den öffentlichen Katamaran auf das Festland in das Dorf Vaitape. Dieser Katamaran ist im Flugpreis inbegriffen. In Vaitape wird man von jemandem von der Unterkunft empfangen (Tipp: den Gästen eine Flasche Wasser geben wäre schön). Wir gingen in Vaitape einkaufen. Im Supermarché Chin Lee hat es eine relativ gute Auswahl an Lebensmitteln. Danach wird man mit einem kleinen Boot auf die Insel gebracht. Im Supermarché gibt es auch Alkohol (Weinauswahl ist nicht so toll) und Eis, um Lebensmittel für den Transport zu kühlen. Es gibt sogar Mozzarella im Tiefkühler. Die Käseauswahl ist gut!

Die Insel (Motu Ahuna) hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Es leben mehrere Einheimische auf der Insel. Fare Ahuna ist jedoch die einzige Unterkunft für Touristen auf der Insel und man hat Privatsphäre. Ab und zu tuckert ein Boot mit Einheimischen vorbei. Für vier Personen ist die Unterkunft ideal. Es gibt zwei separate Wohnhäuser. Beide mit eigenem Bad und Terrasse. Zwischen diesen zwei Gebäuden ist die offene Küche und das offene Wohnzimmer. Uns hat der Einrichtungsstil sehr gefallen. Es kommt übrigens niemand die Betten machen… man hat seine Ruhe. Das war super!

Wir haben gekocht, was uns viel Spass gemacht hat. Frisches Brot haben wir selbst gebacken. Es gibt einen Gasbackofen und wir haben das Brot in einem Gusseisentopf gebacken. Ausserdem hat es 4 Herdplatten, die ebenfalls mit Gas funktionieren. Der Kühlschrank ist riesig und kühlt gut. Ein Gefrierfach gibt es nicht. Es hat auch einen Mixer, einen Shaker und viel Geschirr. Die Bratpfannen sollten dringend ersetzt werden. Zum Glück hatten wir eine eigene Bratpfanne dabei.

Wir hatten den ganzen Tag Strom und auch das Internet hat relativ gut funktioniert.

Auf der Insel gibt es mehrere Hunde, die sich frei bewegen. Sie sind lieb, aber manchmal schon etwas aufdringlich. Sitzen einem auf die Füsse, wenn man am Tisch sitzt und betteln nach Essen. Sie bewegen sich auch im offenen Wohnraum und in der Küche. In die beiden Häuser mit den Schlafzimmern kommen die Hunde aber nicht rein, da man die Häuser mit einer Türe verschliessen kann.

Der schönste Ort um zu essen ist vorne am Wasser in dem kleinen Häuschen. Dort ist es nicht stickig und relativ mückenfrei. Leider gibt es dort vorne kein Licht und auch keine Steckdose. Wir hatten zum Glück eine Campinglampe dabei. Das war super praktisch. Dort vorne zu essen ist sehr, sehr schön! Aber ohne Licht ist es stockdunkel.

Und wegen der Mücken… sie sind schon sehr, sehr nervig und stechen rund um die Uhr. Man kann nicht vor ihnen flüchten. Ausser, wenn man im Bett liegt. Das Bett hat ein Mückennetz. Das Gebäude mit dem Schlafzimmer kann man verschliessen, aber die Fenster sind nicht alle dicht und es kommen an verschiedenen Stellen Mücken rein. Klimaanlage gibt es nicht.

Schwimmen kann man übrigens auch bei Ebbe an einigen Stellen. Die Korallen sind alle abgestorben. Aber es hat trotzdem ein paar farbige Fischlis (Picassodrücker, Anemonenfische, Rochen, Haifische,…). Man benötigt unbedingt gute Schuhe für ins Wasser. Es hat überall Korallenstücke. Wir sind durch das Wasser zu Fuss um die Insel spaziert. War super! Aber ohne Schuhe ist es gefährlich. Es gibt ja auch giftige Fische auf dem Meeresboden.

Wir vier fanden die Unterkunft cool. Doch nach 3 Nächten freuten wir uns auf unser schickes Hotel (Le Bora Bora by Pearl Resorts).

We are from Switzerland and four of us stayed in Fare Ahuna.

When you arrive at the airport in Bora Bora, you first take the public catamaran to the mainland to the village of Vaitape. This catamaran is included in the flight price. In Vaitape you will be welcomed by someone from the accommodation (tip: giving the guests a bottle of water would be nice). We went shopping in Vaitape. Supermarché Chin Lee has a relatively good selection of groceries. You will then be taken to the island in a small boat. The Supermarché also has alcohol (wine selection isn't great) and ice to keep food cool for transport. There's even mozzarella in the freezer. The cheese selection is good!

We really liked the island (Motu Ahuna). There are several locals living on the island. However, Fare Ahuna is the only accommodation for tourists on the island and there is privacy. Every now and then a boat with locals chugs past. The accommodation is ideal for four people. There are two separate residential buildings. Both with private bathroom and terrace. Between these two buildings is the open kitchen and the open living room. We really liked the furnishing style. By the way, no one comes to make the beds... you have peace and quiet. That was great!

We cooked, which we had a lot of fun with. We baked fresh bread ourselves. There is a gas oven and we baked the bread in a cast iron pot. It also has 4 hotplates, which also work with gas. The fridge is huge and cools well. There is no freezer compartment. It also has a blender, a shaker and plenty of dishes. The frying pans urgently need to be replaced. Luckily we had our own frying pan with us.

We had electricity all day and the internet worked relatively well.

There are several dogs that roam freely on the island. They are sweet, but sometimes a bit pushy. Sitting on your feet when you sit at the table and begging for food. They also move around in the open living room and kitchen. However, the dogs cannot get into the two houses with the bedrooms because the houses can be closed with a door.

The nicest place to eat is at the front of the water in the little house. It's not stuffy there and relatively mosquito-free. Unfortunately there is no light or socket up front. Luckily we had a camping lamp with us. That was super practical. Eating there in front is very, very nice! But without light it is pitch black.

And about the mosquitoes… they are very, very annoying and bite around the clock. You can't run away from them. Except when you're lying in bed. The bed has a mosquito net. The building with the bedroom can be locked, but the windows are not all tight and mosquitoes come in in various places. There is no air conditioning.

You can also swim in some places at low tide. The corals are all dead. But it still has a few colorful fish (Picasso triggers, anemone fish, rays, sharks,...). You definitely need good shoes for going into the water. It has pieces of coral everywhere. We walked around the island through the water. Was great! But it's dangerous without shoes. There are also poisonous fish on the seabed.

The four of us thought the accommodation was cool. But after 3 nights we were looking forward to our chic hotel (Le Bora Bora by Pearl Resorts).
