Quirky art-filled and unique decor, comfortable room with patio in a quiet neighborhood. Unique setting in a former convent building. A bit of noise from the bar below, but not terrible. (Bar and restaurant are fabulous!) loved our stay here!

Beautiful rooms and decor. They're still working on sound proofing due to noise from the bar so recommended asking for a room further away for a good night's sleep. Would definitely stay again as the staff were helpful, friendly and accommodating of our families needs.

We were looking forward to our stay here ,being a good location we expected to sightsee all day and recover at night.
Well from the first night of three we were kept awake until the early hours of the morning by the on site restaruant . After bringing this to the notice of the manager no action was taken as our second and last night was no different.
The rooms are petite with no seating but a day room is available for guests ,but unfortunatly this is taken over by restaruant staff during the day as well.
If we had known we were booking into a reastaruant instead of a Hotel we would have stayed down the road at The Surrey Hotel.

The hotel was nice - BUT if you have a problem during the night (for instance “lost your key” or what actually happened “the management kept the music playing through the night in the gangway, so that you hear it in the room - and yes the rooms are badly sound insulated as you can read in other reviews”) it  is quite difficult to get someone to assist you. The Intercom (at the door) does not work, the phonenumber in front of the reception has no international area code (surprise: in a hotel in Auckland you have sometimes guests from abroad)…and yes after a certain time you get hold of  a person at the phone (believe me - you wait) and the responding person J seems very unhappy somebody called (is it not his job to assist?). Fair enough: In the morning at 3.21 somebody came and switched the sound off - thank you for that. (I think this point is not so well handeled, anyways I did not take any stars of the overall rating for that).

Absolutely loved the decor, uniqueness and history of this small hotel. Wonderful warm welcome from reception was a great start. I stayed in one of the Nuns Repose rooms upstairs, room 11.
It's cozy but big enough for one with a small bag. The decor fit beautifully with the rest of the hotel and nods to the convent. The balcony was large and had outdoor curtains to prevent the apartment right next door from looking in.
Bed was comfy and loved the free little mini bar.
Noise was OK, you can hear creaking and doors closing but I guess that's what cones with an old renovated building.

It would have been five stars except you can't control the room temperature yourself so I was sweltering one night then ice cold the next.
Parking was also a bit annoying. You must book in advance  as the restaurant staff use a lot of it as do rest guests.
