This place is a must go if you're visiting Rio.

The aquarium is not super big but they have a very nice variety of things to see and they have nice learning areas (ideal to to bring children).

The place itself is kept very clean and with good quality.

They also have restrooms and chilling areas inside so you can really take your time time during the visit and have a snack.

You can walk around and see everything in about an hour. Besides, they also have a very nice souvenir shop at the end where you can buy t-shirts and other gifts.

They also have other touristic attractions in the same building such as mirror rooms and a wax museum if you buy additional tickets)

You learn more watching "Finding Nemo" than visiting this place. There is no clear identification of species, just a few labels , there are thousands of ways to teach about the big sea, the only QR tag was this one to review the place..., but they just use 1 or 2... this place can be visited by tourists around the world, but many tags and indications are written in Portuguese, is the administration against aliens and tourists? Only $$$$ is relevant here.

We bought the tickets with a discount from the Christ the Redeemer ticket booth. the place wasn’t crowded so there were no long lines of waiting. i really enjoyed the tour and explanations, and i think it’s amazing the emphasis they put in conservation and taking care of the ocean

Ok, where to start, let's say that the experience could be good if not only for few setbacks . First and most important, tickets are  150 BRL (25 USD) for tourists (children pay full fee) so you expect the service to be par..... it's not, why?, you would ask, just one example, there are two jellyfish tanks... one has jellyfish the other is full of nylon bags tied to resemble a cartoonist jellyfish....sad.
Second, all staff is rude, and beyond that there are some that take your picture and then want to charge 20 dollars a pop ( for the price of the ticket i would expect at least a digital copy), and they would take photos of underage children without permission ( yeah, beyond rude)
To sum up, i would recommend if price was 1/4th but for the prie i would recommend a tour in Angra do reí or Arraial do cabo. Same price, four times the fun.

My family visited during a less busy day, which was wonderful because we got to really enjoy all the exhibits and spend time eating popcorn and viewing the tank. We spent about 1h30. The sea animals and flora are well kept, and there is a big effort to educate on ocean conservation. We loved the tunnel and as it was not that crowded, spent a good amount of time. We booked online to avoid queues and generally did not have to wait much. The staff was friendly and informative. We especially liked the coral regeneration area. My son wants to visit it again, so really recommend it for the kids.
