Visiting Sugarloaf Mountain (Pão de Açúcar) and taking the cable car ride was one of the highlights of our trip to Rio. We started at the base station and took the first cable car up to the intermediate stop at Morro da Urca, located in a scenic park. From there, we boarded the second cable car to the summit of Sugarloaf Mountain.

Since we had purchased our tickets in advance for a specific time slot, we didn’t have to wait long in line. The cable cars are large and accommodate many passengers, but if you want the best views, it’s worth securing a spot near the window.

The panoramic views from the top are breathtaking, offering a stunning perspective of Rio de Janeiro, its beaches, and the surrounding mountains. This is definitely a must-visit attraction in Rio, and we highly recommend planning ahead to make the most of the experience!

Worth a visit—great views from the top. If you can afford it, I’d recommend paying extra to skip the queue, as the line looked very long and the wait could be quite tedious.

There are plenty of food stalls at the top, and it seems like there’s a bit of nightlife too, with a DJ and a bar adding to the atmosphere.

Honestly, pay for the fast past or be ready to pay to just stand in line for HOURS. You have to buy tickets for a 1 hour bracket and then every other hour still goes up, the organization is terrible. It's not enjoyable because of all the wait
