I truly don't understand the raging reviews over Santa Vista Rio. The place was nothing compared to the pictures that had to have been taken 10 to 15 years ago. See the attached pictures for an idea of what it looks like now.

We had a lovely holiday in Brasil and wanted some luxury during our last days. However, we decided to leave after one night. The airconditioning was disgusting, filled with dust and dirt, which is a health hazard. The fridge was wet and moldy. The bathroom was moldy and smelled gross. The balcony was covered with moss and the windows were filthy (see pictures). The sheets were not clean (there were stains on the pillowcases). The mattrass was super thin and uncomfortable.

When we came down to discuss it with Luciana, she wasn't surprised. She immediately offered us a full refund. She said she completely understood (which tells you a lot). She said she arranged it immediately and showed us a paper that stated the money was refunded. She said that we could contact her if we didn't receive it.

And of course, we didn't receive it. We contacted Luciana, always friendly. The last time we spoke she said she'd look into it by contacting the bank. We haven't heard from her since. I asked her for an update a few weeks ago, but nothing. That's a lot of hard earned money we were cheated out off.

This is not the relaxing place you're looking for. It's a sham. From entrance to exit.

Santa Vista Rio is the best guest house to stay while in Rio de Janeiro if you want accommodations of a comforting, soothing spa experience, all the sun with a cool pool, a wonderful view of Christ the Redeemer, beautiful mountain views of the city, spectacular sunrise and sunsets, delicious food, lots of fun and a very very helpful charming staff❣️ They made sure we received everything we needed with a smile and laughter😍
We almost canceled due to condescending reviews... We did not see or have any of these remarks happen while we were there for five days. All in all, our time at Santa Vista Rio was enjoyable, and a special experience ✨️

We are absolutely amazed by this boutique hotel! We stayed for two nights and enjoyed the wonderful view of Rio from our spacious room with a hot tub! The stuff was incredibly friendly and helpful! The breakfast on the patio with a view of Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf mountain was very delicious! If we ever come back to Brazil THIS is the place to stay! Thank you!
