Yes, call me a hipster or a wannabe hipster or whatever but I really like Mirante 9 de Julho, especially the coffee from Isso é Cafe ! This spot, right above the 9 de Julho Avenue and behind MASP, was abandoned until the city government and a couple of groups of businessmen decided to renovate it and ever since its been an awesome place. Its quieter on weekdays abut weekends are quite full - besides the great coffee at one end, a quick food joint at the other, they also have a basic functioning bar (beer and other alcoholic options), an interesting view and a really awesome ambience. On weekends they also organise open air movei screenings or a DJ plays and the place gets even more interesting. The decor of the place is clean, well organised - if you order food or coffee, they give you a buzzer so that you can go and pick up you food/drink. Talking about the café there - Isso é Cafe - nice Brazilian coffee at reasonable prices with effect services - however on weekends they tend to be slower. I normally go for their regular brewed option at R$ 5 which is like a huge mug of awesome black coffee - at just the right roast & temperature. if you want a refill, it costs you another R$ 2.50 so for all you coffee gulpers, this is the place. Also its quite a cool place for a weekday date. I like Mirante, I love the ambience and I am going to be frequenting it quite a bit more !

A great new spot for coffee, drinks or music. It's open early in Sunday morning so is a great option for people riding along the ciclovia. The menu at the coffee shop, Isso É Café, is small but tasty and the coffee is excellent. Follow them on Instagram for information about music, movie nights and other events.

Ah! Brazilian hipster joint at its finest. Over the freeway, 9 de Julho, there is a cafe and bar with good nibble food, coffee in one corner, beer in the next, and a little trolly with wines from Argentina. The crowd is just as you would expect at this kind of place and the wifi does not require a code. Some evenings they hang a big screen on the bridge over Mirante and show a movie for free.

I am an American living in Rio. One thing I miss about the good old US of A is a coffee shop where you can sit safely with your laptop and write/work. This place has the 'coffee shop culture' that LA or New York has. I felt very safe here with my electronics. I got the pao de queijo and an espresso with a drop of foam. The coffee was really good and the pao de queijo was fresh. It is kind of hidden--you have to go down a little staircase and wind around to get there but if you see the museum and a little circle, you are in the right place. Another perk--free water! They put out glass jars of water so when you are feeling dehydrated from their yummy coffee, you don't have to pay R$4 for a water bottle. I hope to come back to one of their events or happy hours in the future.

It's a totally #hipster American coffee shop concept! Usually coffee shops in Brazil is not like this but this one it's a kind of a copy o Blue Bottle Coffee and others common places in US! The young Brazilian communist being American capitalists....

Super cool spot for coffee or drinks! I was surprised at where it was. A low key place but was full and buzzing. I had a cappuccino which was delicious and reasonably priced. After coffee my friend suggested we check out the "gallery" down stairs. I put gallery in quotes because I thought she was trying to prank me as a joke because Its a far cry from the definition of gallery lol. You go down this long case of stairs with a couple posters on the wall and arrive at the bottom of the stairs only to be surprised with a dead end cement wall I was sooooo confused. Then we walked back up the stairs..... The End. Lmao !
