There was a line to get in, which is expected given its fame. Inside, the beautiful colonial-style decor really stands out — it’s like stepping back in time. The tables are quite close to each other, so the space can feel a bit tight.

As for the food, it was fine but nothing particularly special. Overall, it’s more about the experience and the iconic setting than the food itself. If you like historic places with unique charm, it’s definitely worth a visit.

Cool historical space with high ceilings and old school charm. However Colombo  fell short where it mattered. The food was really mediocre to bad.

Recommend stopping by for an expresso and photos but pass on the food.  I wasted a meal here during my trip.

Grand and beautifully constructed coffee shop with a great history. Enjoyable experience to bask in the historical atmosphere where historical figures have visited. Food was mediocre - I had the stuffed chicken thigh and cappuccino, which was really average.
Would recommend coming in before 12pm to avoid long waits - I arrived at 11am and waited for 15 minutes only.

With more than 35,000 reviews already, there can be no doubt that this is not "off the normal tourist path" - do not allow that to dissuade you - YOU SHOULD STILL GO.

The wood carved mirrors and fittings are from the 1890's when the place opened. The amazingly patient and friendly waiters have been there even longer.

Despite throngs of local romantic couples, and international tourists on vacation making their pilgrimage here the week after Christmas, the staff seemed not frazzled at all. They've seen this all before.

The desserts are incredible, the coffee is better, and the spectacle cannot be surpassed.

I'm delighted we went. You will be too.
