We have eaten at Oia many times, and we loved it, the difference was that this was the first time we haven’t ordered as delivery, but we were physically at the restaurant, and we were absolutely frustrated with our experience.
The restaurant was not crowded, but even though they’ve taken forever to bring the menu. Every time we needed to call to waiter it was an issue. And they were many, my impression was that they were like little ants going to every place, but not doing much. It was pretty annoying, and in the end the food was nothing special, so most probably it was our last time there 😓
Do not recommend it, way too expensive to an average experience.

Frustrating lunch experience. The place wasn't crowded at all and for some reason calling the waiters was always a challenge, we felt actively ignored. We ordered the salmon tartare and the tuna. The salmon tartare took 30 minutes to arrive and it was really great. The tuna took so long that after an hour of waiting we asked them to cancel the order. We asked the waiter several times why it was taking so long and he just kept telling us it was going to be ready in minutes. Unfortunate experience really, especially considering that the tartare tasted really good.

We've explored pretty much every restaurant in this part of town and often passed by Oiá as it was always bustling. We finally decided to give it a go. The interior is bright and beautiful, and the atmosphere is very cosy, even though the tables are quite close together. We got the impression that this restaurant specialises in Mediterranean and Greek cuisine.

Food:

We went for two starters and a main course. Our first starter was a Greek-style taco with chicken and yoghurt sauce. The tacos were tasty, but the chicken filling was a little sparse. It got lost in the flavour of the vibrant sauce and other ingredients. The crunchy onion on top was a nice touch, adding texture and flavour to the dish. Next up was the crispy aubergine and courgette chips, as described on the menu. In reality, they were more like deep-fried vegetables in a thick batter that wasn't crispy at all. It was more like a doughnut, which wasn't quite what we had imagined. Plus, there wasn't a picture for this dish on the menu. We were able to get it taken off the order without any fuss. For our main course, we had the octopus. This was cooked perfectly - tender and juicy, with a slightly crispy exterior. It was served with a pea purée, which we felt was a bit greasy due to the abundance of oil. But overall, it was delicious.

Service:

The waiters weren't particularly fluent in English, but we managed to communicate using gestures and the picture menu, which was a lifesaver. The food came out quickly and everything was fine.

Conclusion:

A decent restaurant in the heart of Ipanema. It would be perfect for large family gatherings or a leisurely lunch. All in all, the food was good and we had a lovely time.

Food was decent. The moussaka was drowned in sauce and looked nothing like the pictures. It also has pork which wasn't mentioned in the menu. The spaghetti was good, but fairly luke warm. Should be hotter. The not mentioning of pork is bad though.
Finally, they charge 28$ for water! This is outrageous, and very unreasonable.

Out of our two week vacation in Rio, this was hands down the best restaurant we visited. I had the lamb and the moussaka. Wow, the flavors were absolutely phenomenal. The flavors, we're rich, complex, but also comforting. Highly recommend. The restaurant itself is very beautiful and full of bougainvilleas reminiscent of the Mediterranean coast. Cannot miss!
