Weekdays are relaxed, but it's very busy on weekends. There are plenty of food and drink options available right on the sand. The umbrella and chair service is good and abundant, with drinks and food also available for purchase. The water at the beach can be a bit rough, but it's still enjoyable with caution. This is a free public beach in Rio that is an essential visit! You can possibly have a bad time here. There are too many good things happening all at once! Vendors serve food and drinks on the beach and on the sidewalk nearby. Drinks are cheaper on the sidewalk but stronger on the beach. Occasionally on the beach you'll be offered drinks on a platter.  Ignore those and go to a booth vendor. Police are present nearby on the street and sidewalks. It's a very safe and accepting place. Get a caipirinha and love life. Sunset is beautiful from this beach.

This is one of the world's best beach views, the sun is hot, and the place is notorious for thieves.  But, choose your beach spot wisely, get a chair, and your beach attendant will take care of everything you need.   If you get a bad feeling from one, choose the next!
