LETS HIKE🎄

Hiking right through this jungle to see this Christ fella. I’ve been preparing this hike for months at my local stair master. Due to my preparation, this hike was a piece of
cake. I could see how many others would struggled.

I read some reports of robberies on this trail. I was full of fear but I didn’t see a single robber. Lucky me!

A lot of climbing on this trail and can be a little muddy in places. It took us about hours to go up and a little over an hour to return. Plenty of beautiful waterfalls and views on the way. Last part of the trail to Christ the Redeemer is along the road. Most of it is a nice forested hike. The trail is free and need to register at the park before starting. If you want to enter Christ the Redeemer at the top you will need to pay cash at the top unless you already booked tickets.

Be smart, take the Corcovado train or van/taxi service UP to the statue, and then walk DOWN this trail. You’ll see a closed metal gate before you go back down to the train with security guards, that’s the way down. It was very enjoyable and we had beautiful views. Trail is very well maintained and we felt safe. Good signage. It’s mostly dirt paths with roots, and a few stairs. No mud when we were there. Shaded 99%. Not close to roads or the train. Bring water and good shoes. We hiked down pretty fast/jogged and it took us little over an hour. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see any wildlife (I really wanted to see monkeys). The trail ends right in Parque Lage, so make sure to go to Cafe Plage!!

Beautiful trail to an amazing view. The path is very clearly marked and well maintained.

It has some runnable splits in case you are into that. I started at opening hours (8:00 am) and came across some people trail running the descent when I was about to complete it.

If you do it non-stop, it will take you about an hour to reach Christ the Redeemer. It is not an easy trail, keep in mind that it is about 4 km (about 5 km until Christ) with more than 600m total elevation gain. If you take breaks and take your time to enjoy the trail, try to spot animals, etc., it should take about two hours.

An amazing experience if you are into this, much more rewarding than hopping on a van, plus less crowded. Bring water (aim for 2 litres per person) and some snacks too, especially if you do the descent as well.

Even though it's just a trail and there shouldn't be a reason why not to use it earlier, it only opens at 8 am!!
We got there at 6 and were held off by the security. Big waste of time. Make sure you're aware of this nonsense rule before getting up early!!
P.s. jumping the wall doesn't help you as there is another security guy further up the trail and there's no avoiding him...
