I visited Peru Gourmet for lunch and was impressed by the variety of traditional Peruvian dishes on their menu. I decided to try Ají de Gallina, a classic chicken dish, along with Chicha Morada, a refreshing drink made from purple corn. The food was enjoyable, though I had higher expectations for the flavor of the Ají de Gallina. Despite this, the overall experience was pleasant—the atmosphere was welcoming, and the staff were attentive. I would definitely consider coming back to explore more dishes and enjoy the authentic Peruvian culinary experience again.

My ceaser salad came with dressing on the side - I did not ask for that, and barely toasted cut up pieces of sliced bread posing as croutons. The chicken was stringy and dry and hard to eat. The other plate we ordered, rice with seafood combo with fried fish was ok, a bit too mushy, and very small portions. Our lemonade was refreshing but we ordered the “frozen” option and it amounted to just the top layer being a slushy….It’s clear this is a “tourist” restaurant that values quantity over quality. The server walked past us at least 5 times before greeting us and seemed annoyed more than happy to serve us. My advice- keep walking and find a better spot. There are many more great options in the center.

If you are looking to try some very delicious Peruvian food, I would certainly recommend taking a visit to this establishment recommended by our accommodation. Our waiter was amazing, friendly and gave us great recommendations from the menu which they had a copy of in English. Myself and my partner had 2 starters: Ceviche de Pescado ( with Peruvian Hake) and Causa Limera. Both were very flavourful and the Hake with the lemon dressing was our favourite. For the main we shared Ahi de Callina with a glass of Pisco sour. The negative reviews are in no way what we experienced and trust me you will love the food here!

The food is really good here. I had the best lomo saltado. Everything fresh and good. But the service… they were pushing very hard for what they recommend, they don’t let you check peacefully the menu. It became really annoying and I felt pressure all the time. When the food came, the waiter barely pay attention to us. It took us more time to ask for the bill than to eat. Once we’re served it seems were not the priority anymore. The food was good but the service seems very tourist trap and I would not recommend for that. It worth to go for the food but set some bonderies with the waiters if you want to have a peaceful and relaxed meal.
