I visited AWA after it was recommended by several Michelin-level chefs who had yet to experience it themselves. Unfortunately, my visit was deeply underwhelming from start to finish.

From the moment we arrived, there was no hostess to greet or seat us, which immediately set the tone. The service throughout the night was disorganized and unprofessional. Our server lacked even basic knowledge of the menu — struggling to describe dishes or explain the wines. I had chosen a wine from the chef’s recommendations, only to be served the wrong bottle. My order was forgotten more than once, and two cocktails we ordered were overly sweet and lacked any sense of balance or structure.

What stood out most was the clear lack of training or direction among the staff. At one point, our server had to ask another team member—possibly the manager or a runner—how to plate and serve the dishes. For a restaurant that touts itself as five-star and was completely empty on a Saturday night, the experience unfortunately made sense.

As for the food, I’ve traveled all over Peru and have enjoyed incredible Amazonian cuisine. This was nowhere near that level. The flavors were flat, execution was off, and overall, I’d give the food a 1 out of 10.

AWA may have potential with the right leadership and a complete overhaul of staff training and quality control, but as it stands, it was a major disappointment. I would not recommend it in its current state.

One of my best experiences in Lima !!!! I love a story telling and significance of the selva. The chef has develop an outstanding chef and I hope more people are able to enjoy it.

My son and I will be back because we didn’t have space for dessert.

Brand new joint! Great, creative dishes mostly based on Amazonian sustainable ingredients, expertly adapted to today's palates. We ordered and shared most of the items in the menu. Personally, I loved the Oda de yuca (pictured), with a thick filet of paiche (the largest fish in the Amazon), the conchitas, and the wonderful juane, the most typical of Amazonian dishes. Highly recommended.
