 sits at the very tip of the Posillipo headland and offers what many consider the most dramatic viewpoint in the city. From its terraces you look out over the entire Gulf of Naples in one direction and the open Tyrrhenian Sea in the other — Vesuvius, Capri, Ischia, Procida all visible at once.  is a lesser-known gem on the Posillipo coast where the water below is crystal clear and the view back across the bay is one of the most beautiful in the city. It's a peaceful alternative to the more crowded hilltop spots, with a historic atmosphere and a genuine sense of being away from the tourist trail. The descent to the waterfront is steep but worth it.

Verde e Mare — Parks, gardens and the seafront

is the largest green space in Naples — over 130 hectares of woodland surrounding the Royal Palace of Capodimonte on the hill above the city. Originally a royal hunting ground, it's now open to the public and offers shaded paths, open meadows and a genuine sense of escape from the city below. Combine it with a visit to the Capodimonte museum for one of the best full-day outings in Naples.

is one of Naples' best-kept secrets — a large botanical garden run by the university, tucked behind the busy Via Foria, with shaded paths, themed gardens (desert plants, succulents, ferns, citrus groves), and a calm so complete it feels like another city entirely. Entry is free, the staff buzz you in at the gate, and midweek visits mean you'll often have the whole place to yourself. Don't miss the giant lemons.

is a beautiful neoclassical park in the heart of Vomero, perched above the city with views over the bay. The gardens are well-maintained and full of fountains, benches, turtles, and flowering plants — a perfect place to decompress after a morning of sightseeing. Take the funicular up, explore the park, and reward yourself at one of the excellent cafés on nearby Piazza Vanvitelli just outside the gates.

 is the most beloved stretch of Naples' seafront — a long, car-free promenade where locals jog, families stroll and couples sit on the rocks watching the ferries move in and out of the harbour. With Vesuvius visible across the water and the smell of the sea in the air, it's one of the most distinctly Neapolitan experiences you can have without spending a cent.  is a protected marine area on the Posillipo coast — one of the few places in Naples where you can swim in genuinely clean, clear water surrounded by ancient Roman ruins just below the surface. Entry requires a free online reservation, plastic bottles are banned, and the atmosphere is calm and unhurried in a way the city centre rarely is. A completely different side of Naples that most visitors never see.
