After walking a few hours at the Louvre and pushing and shoving what seemed like every tourist out of the way, we were ready to eat something.  We didn't want another sandwich from the Louvre cafe, so we opted for the Restaurant du Monde by Autogrill.

It's the Louvre version of an American food court, tastefully done by the super, ubiquitous Autogrill food group.  I liked that it had different cuisines, Japanese, American [McDonalds], Moroccan, French, and a small coffee cafe.  We opted for the Japanese [yakitori skewers] and French [salmon and vegetable plate] affair and while the food wasn't that great, it was good enough for 2 hungry tourists.  The meal itself was reasonable, especially the French cuisine of salmon, 2 sides of vegetables, chocolate tart, and a drink for €15.  

It was just very crowded that day - it was raining and I think we just hit the time when all the tour groups came in.  It also said it offered free Wifi, but I could never figure out on my iPhone how to get it working, even though I was connected.

It was not a bad experience at all especially after 3 hours walking in Louvre but I still could not be a fan of this place (maybe because of their chicken). I choose the French section to try their grilled chicken and the chicken was a bit dry for me but their cake was lovely - their combo of main course/ side/ dessert and drink have costed me around 17.30EUR and I think it was not bad at all but not crazy good as well!

We used the McDonalds in this food court after spending a few hours in the Louvre.  The "system" looks great but was actually really painful.  I tried to order from the great looking kiosks. Called something like "Easy Order" - note it is easy but you can't do customization of any sandwiches.  The painful part was that after I entered the whole order for 3 people, it incorrectly rejected my credit card (US, Visa card, no problems and after checking online we could see that the charges were in process TWICE.). The screen instructed me to get in the (LONG) regular line to pay cash. Another 15 minutes.  Then paid.  Then was sent to the McCafe counter to pick up 2 items there - a water and a smoothie.  Anyway it wasn't "fast food", and the credit card issue was stressful! The food itself was ok, as expected.

A grand food court to rule them all lies under the Louvre. There is a pan-global selection of foodstuffs here to cater to every tourist's craving for their native food and/or Mcdonald's (of course). Prices here are slightly higher per expectation but the quality of the food is good (many places have a display kitchen) and serving sizes are good.  If you come during peak hours, expect long lines and a mad dash for open tables.
