The food was good but be prepared to wait quite a while for simple starters. We had reserved well in advance and got the menu card and wine 20 minutes after sitting in. Then we waited another 70 minutes for our starter: an assortment of 7 cheeses and some olives (see foto). The reason being that staff at the cheese station was too busy cutting cheeses. Staff friendliness was below average for international standards but average in this region.

While the food was very good here the real magic happens with the salumi e formaggi and the extensive wine list, both local and international.  To make things even better the surroundings are comfortable with a real local feel and the staff is extremely helpful.  Being gluten free was a little difficult but the staff was able to feed me well.

Nice place for a relaxed lunch. Casual and cosy atmosphere with amazing selection of cheeses and cold meats as well as constantly changing menu with local dishes.

Very underwhelmed by this Slow Food restaurant. In our opinion it should not be in the guide; certainly not with the snail, which indicates a preferred venue. We  have been eating our way up and down Italy with this guide and have always found places who took great pride and pleasure in offering outstanding food and hosting guests, and La Baita does not seem to be sharing in this spirit.

We had two primi: The tagliatelle with meat sauce was one of the dishes of the day and was excellent. The tagliatelle with gambuccio is a recommended dish in the Slow Food guide from 2024,  but we were very disappointed by it, as the predominant flavour was that of vegetable stock cube.

For secondi we had one bistecca, which was ok although the potatoes were rubbery and I have definitely eaten better.
And also fritelle with seafood, but the fritelle were not hot and not fully cooked as the dough was still undercooked and doughy in parts - whilst I have eaten fritelle as a dream of crispness that melted on the tongue in other places and fritelle are meant to be one of the Emilia Romagna dishes. They came with pesto which I consider a poor choice as it completely overpowered the delicate flavours of the seafood and batter.

Our waiter was definitely not friendly and felt a bit arrogant.

This means out of 4 dishes 1 truly good, 1 ok, 2 disappointing. We did not feel like trying our luck on desserts afterwards.

Sorry, but we will not come back.
