Oh, my, what to say?

This place is pretty awesome.

Very nice food, good coffee, free (!) filtered water (they don't sell it at all). Enviro-correctness abounds. Small menu, cheap (£5-£6.50 lunch menus), really great lovely delicious crispy hand-cut chips, made from potatoes, not from a freezer bag.

It's also a social enterprise and employs people on a work experience scheme who wouldn't otherwise get careers in food. And they're all enviro-y-ethical and whatnot. So that's nice.

Now, they claim they're in Shoreditch, but I have to say that Kingsland Road is a bit out of the way. Accessible to most of you Silicon Roundabout louts, though. Especially on your single-speed colourful bicycles.

Seems to have something sisterly to do with the excellent Acorn House Resto as well. 

Get there. It's out of the way, and only open at lunch, but it's the best fiver lunch you'll find (outside of Brixton)

Wow, a place run by a charity and serving great food!

My friend and I wanted to try it so went on a Tuesday night as they have a dinner special.  Decor inside is modern and greeting and service friendly. 

Menu is small but I'm quite happy with that, I'd rather have a small choice of fresh foods. And the view is lovely at it sits overlooking Regent's Canal. 
I was really pleased with the aubergine starter and risotto main. The house white wine was quite good too, better than some I've had in City restaurants and for far cheaper.

The restaurant , owned by Shoreditch Trust, is run in partnership with the Shoreditch Trust's Blue Marble Training Programme, to support young people developing careers in food & hospitality. Our waitress was a bit nervous but she was very nice and especially knowing this is a charity, we were happy to smile and be patient to encourage her.

Recommended -- you get nice food at a reasonable price and feel like you've contributed to the community.

Wow, what a disappointment. I was really looking forward to going to this restaurant - right on the canal, organic beers, eco-friendly, sustainable menu, in a word, twee. We started our evening with drinks out on the decking which was really pleasant, then came inside for food and that's when it all went downhill.


 The menu looked reasonably priced and well thought out, but the food just didn't live up to expectation, on taste or portion size (though that was actually a blessing as the food was so awful).


 I dont think anyone in our group was happy with what they ordered, and I was particularly disappointed with the crab risotto, that I can only describe as overcooked boil-in-the-bag rice with guacamole-looking mush plonked on top.

Yes great eco-credentials and great use of water in the soup and risotto, shame they didn't put any stock in with that and left out that vital ingredient called flavour.

We live nearby and the food is always great . Add to the fact it's run by a charity makes it really worthwhile. Menu is seasonal. Only fault is it can be a little quiet, particularly in the winter months.

We ate here a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed one of the best meals we've had in London for ages. The food was excellently prepared and presented and was delicious - and all at a very reasonable price. 

Friendly, efficient service - good people doing a great job. It is a social enterprise and absolutely deserves our support but most of all because they deliver (I don't mean in a van) - no charity here: it is just an excellent restaurant with really good food.  

One of my best restaurant experiences in London for a very long time.

This one is a bit hit and miss really. It has the makings to be a decent restaurant but lacks any kind of pizazz.. I chose Rabbit Three Ways here  two ways were great and the last was vile; too much honey. If there was a bit more atmosphere it might be a decent place..
