We went to MUYU for cocktails and dinner and we enjoyed both very much. Original cocktails happy hour before sunset were refreshing and delicious, especially the Isla Bonita, a sort of lemongrass infused Piña colada. For dinner we started with catch of the day tartare and scorpion fish slices cured in beetroot kvass, both dishes were very fresh and a delight to eat. For our mains we both had the lobster as it was in season while we were there. The lobster was delicious in its own sauce and came with a fantastic lobster risotto with thin orange slices and hibiscus petals which balanced the lobster’s rich flavour perfectly but also made the dish look very pretty. Finally for dessert we had the various banana/plantain species/flavours and the chocolate textures, both very well executed and enjoyed. The service was very friendly and well attentive and the atmosphere by the beach very pleasant. I would certainly recommend a visit if you are in San Cristobal and looking for some fine dining with local flavours and ingredients

Never again.

We visited Muyu today for Christmas Eve dinner. My partner had booked the menu in advance and informed the restaurant that I am celiac and cannot eat gluten. Muyu assured us this would not be a problem, and we confirmed the allergy restriction multiple times leading up to the dinner.

During the meal, they served a bread they claimed was gluten-free. We asked the waiter twice to confirm, and each time, he insisted it was gluten-free. However, after my partner tried the bread, he became doubtful and decided to triple-check with another waiter. To our shock, this waiter informed us that the bread was made with “masa madre” (sourdough), which definitively contains gluten.

It is astonishing that a restaurant of this caliber could fail so profoundly in managing a basic dietary restriction, especially after being given ample notice and confirming multiple times that they could accommodate it. Such negligence is not only disrespectful but also potentially harmful. This oversight completely ruined what was meant to be a special Christmas Eve dinner for us.

To finish things off, they tried to charge us twice for the menu we had already prepaid.

As you can see in the comment below the restaurant offered a happy hour or the next dinner. I believe the correct thing to have been done was to offer my partner’s meal once gluten was served. We are just passing by Galapagos and won’t be able to take on the offer.

I stopped here because it is on the World's 50 best restaurants discovery list, and was happy i did! I had the scorpionfish and the tangerine dessert, both were lovely.

We were at Muyu for lunch, drinks and dinner. Adrian was most attentive and the entire crew are super helpful and polite. The owner is Brazilian who apparently teaches at  Harvard. The chef is creative with the list of dishes on offer with a wide list of selection to accommodate all clients. I have not seen the extend that the menu offers for vegetarians. A true delightful spot. A classy option by the water next to the mischievous and happy sea lions for your viewing. They also have a hotel above called the Golden Bay which might be a tad too expensive ranging from $585 to $780 per night.

This looked like a nice place for breakfast. There was a sign that said there was avocado toast for 3,50 so it looked very cheap. We sat down and there was a kid that tried to sell us snacks and drinks and didn't leave us alone. I had to ask a server to please call her back.  We had to choose loose ingredients from the menu. I asked about the fruit juices and the server said there was lemonade as well. Breakfast was fine, maybe the portion could be a little bigger. But then the bill came and turns out the lemonade is 5 DOLLARS PER GLASS. And our total came to 25 dollars, just for breakfast for 2!! Outragious.... especially because I expected to spend only 3,50 on my toast.... it was nice but not worth that much money.
